To Cover or not to Cover

Same company made the one I used on my Focus for three years.

I've written about this topic a few times, I've had several different types of cover over the years, not always with success. High quality covers work well but care must be taken to have a clean and dry car. If you have to park under trees or birds etc. then I'd invest in a good cover regardless, if the parking area is "clean" then given the OP's car is an E89 I'd suggest a good detail and a ceramic coating should be enough.

I've just ordered one, I've never had a partial cover before so it was cheap enough to give it a trial. I'll report back from time to time as I use it over the next few months.

I've just paid out for a all singing all dancing stormforce cover which has stitched in side protection bags. Main reason for this is to the left of my parking space outside my apartment is a visitors space so people coming and going sometimes. So I want the cover for protection against people brushing against my car or resting their doors on it.
I feel so bad for the car with it having to live outside. Next home will definitely have a garage.

They are a good quality cover, had one for my e85 for 5 years with no issues. I'll probably pick one up for next winter for the e89

+1 for the stormforce cover.
Bought one from a forum member a while back to prevent water ingress while i sorted where the leak was coming from.
They're a great cover but not fully waterproof and they can trap condensation. So not really a long-term outdoors solution imo. Having said that, they do seem to dry off pretty quick.

I've just bought one of these https://cabrioshield.com/uk/bmw-z4-premium.html. After trawling through advice on here and reading various reviews I thought I'd give it a go. Cost me £131 with the 30% off. It fixes in the door and boot shuts. Is breathable and guaranteed for 5 years so I thought why not.

I went for a partial cover as well, so far it's worked very well but I would say that it's vital to clean and polish the car before you use it. Mine has caused some streaking down the paintwork where it concentrates the rain and crud. Not an issue for me as I have a ceramic coating on the car but I can imagine that it would be much harder to remove these marks if the car wasn't polished properly.

OP you say you have “no useable garage space”. That implies you have a garage but its full ?
Is it not worth purchasing a garden shed, decanting everything into that in order to be able to use your garage for your car ?

I live in a cul-de-sac of 6 houses all with double garages I’m the only one who puts my cars away. Everyone else’s are just bursting with crap that could be in a shed (or skipped!)

Alternatively look for a car storage unit.
I pay approx £60/month to store some of mine so even if just Dec,Jan & Feb, £180 may be worth it. ?

Hope that Interceptor is yours
