Titanium silver hardtop in London on ebay

Stripping parts when you sell the car is legit in my mind. Splitting items that come as a set is pretty bad form though.

If this guy was selling it on this forum I could see why people are upset but he's doing it on ebay.
It's not a bad price for the hardtop considering how much they have been known to go for, yes I know it's not in perfect condition but as they say it's only worth what people are willing to pay.
As for selling the parts separately, it's the same as breaking a car for parts to maximise profit.
Just my opinion though.

If you sell stuff on eBay, you won't get the price you want for the item, you'll get the going market price for that item.
Really? I've seen and experienced the opposite to that - hardtops on eBay have been sold for well in excess of £1k, and haven't been worth those prices. Folding roof covers have sold for £150, I did a group buy for less than half that price. eBay has a huge audience, many of whom may not be aware of going rates hence me thinking the opposite applies IMO.

Forum rates and group buys aren't the market price matey.
The market is the vast majority, and as you say, eBay has a huge audience... so by definition, it IS the market, and as such, it sets the market price.

If you're able to get items cheaper elsewhere (such as on this forum), then you're beating the market price, getting things at a lower rate than what they're worth.

Remember, just because BMW sells a part for £10 and some guy on eBay sells it for £20, it doesn't mean it's worth either of these..
(BMW may not have the item in stock and you have to wait a week, whilst Mr eBay can have it to your door by 9am tomorrow).

Market price / item worth is soley based on how much the average person is willing to pay for it.
Sorry to say, but we, here, are not the average
