Your opinion please... :?

I have a 2003 Titan Silver metallic Z4 3.0, with an the interior that is grey instead of more common black. The aluminum/ aluminium panels are not in great shape, especially the center console.. small scratches annoy me. So, time to start looking at alternatives...

Carbon leather panels are great (they sell for about EUR 430 in Germany on Ebay), but I fear that a combination of red leather seats, grey dash and black panels will not look great.

Good friend of mine came up with a suggestion that has been on my mind for a while. He suggested to remove the 3 panels, prepare them and have them painted in Titan Silver metallic, identical to the exterior of the car.

Im looking to get my front bumper done this fall and the paintshop has made me a decent offer to do the interior panels as well. Now I can get my hands on a spare set of aluminum panels that I could sacrifice for this little experiment. In all honesty, I think this will give the Z4 interior quite a retro look, looking nice with the grey dash and the red seats.

Can i just ask what have you done to your headlights to remove the amber strip (the indicator) have you done anything different to the other people out there as it looks pretty good ?
 
Sounds like a good idea to me if, unless it's prone to scratching easily. I wish these parts were cheaper, mine are a bit knackered from the original owner.

It will be very reminisant of the previous Bangle creation, the fiat coupe. Body coloured dash strips are nothing new in that respect and do look good. The only thing i would be worried about is the possible scratches on the center console if you do that aswell.
 
The center console is subjected to all sorts of hits, knicks etc. It would have to be a powder coat or something that is bullet proof or else it will look like ass.

I have now gotten my hands on a spare set of panels, powder coating seems to be the way forward to indeed avoid further scratches etc...

Have you thought about simply putting the burnished finish back on them with either a scouring pad, wire wool or a fine abrasive paper? I've done such things before and it usually comes out pretty good.

You need to be sure about the finish on the powder coating people can achieve. It can sometimes be a little blotchy on larger areas.

after the headlight conversion, now the interior panels were up for renewal.

Today finally found the time to work on the panels and install the set I had painted in titan silver....

The center console is able to survive Mach 3.

Have to admit that pics dont fully capture the impact of this modification but it looks very good IMHO. :lol:
Looks classy, feels solid. Gives the interior a fresh, new look. Kinda rare and unique :fuelfire:
 
looks good, my only concern as with the brushed aluminium finish would be reflection from the sun when behind, but I had considered doing mine black sapphire before getting the carbon leather.
 
They do look good. :thumbsup:

Are they sprayed in normal paint and clear coat, or did you go for some sort of more durable finish?
