Tips for using AG Roof Cleaner Kit

Ive been told that it can mark the bodywork, trim and glass. Is it the shampoo or the treatment that leaves the marks?

Any advice would be great

That's what the instructions say, I think if you treat the roof and then give the car a good rinse afterwards then you'll be OK, I think they want to avoid people leaving it smeared on the windows and paintwork for weeks.

Hi, I've used this product on a couple of cars and rate it as a good, easy to use, rag top cleaner.

It can/does stain glass/paint but does polish off with little effort. Follow the instructions and rinse well and the stains will be kept to a minimum.

Cheers

Yeah, as said.. it can mark the paint and windows (the protector). I was careless the first time I used it on my mini, after that I would meticulously mask off the whole car around the roof before applying, took bloody ages!
Now I just take care and keep a damp cloth handy... if there is a drip or run (there will be!) then wipe it off straight away.

Great product

Well a friend is selling one............. na need a roadster. Im already making plans to upgrade to an M  , however im realy in love with the Zed I have now, I keep looking back at it when I park up and walk away. Such a great looking car, as is the coupe but I love the soft top for 1 or 2 nice days.

As for the AG, I think i will mask and wipe :)

I use the cleaner diluted 3:1 and a spomge to apply
If you spray it on directly it takes ages to rinse out
I do not use the protector as this works best for a clk or 3 series type cab which sits over the body
I use the BMW protector spray

Popey - had no problems with residue from the AG Roof Cleaner and Protector Kit. There was no need to mask off the car and windows, waste of time IMHO. If you use the two things on a day where it's not too windy and just use care with spraying the cleaner and the protector, it's fine.

Tweed's got good advice about wiping if you are worried

Suds from cleaner do take a while to rinse out - use the hose to rinse.

I have found that the protector will mark glass ... so last time I threw an old cotton sheet over the windscreen and door windows and then shut the roof ... saves all that masking! ... doesn't help with the rear window though! :)
