Tips for cleaning middle engine bay drain-

Hi all-any tips?--I posted on here a few days ago regarding where the second engine bay drain is,and was told its halfway up and to the middle approx,i think I can see it but cant get my hand/arm around all the gubbins,do any of you take any pipe off or similar to do this?-thanks
 
I have an E85 2.5 and I can reach both drains with ease......I use an old BBQ skewer (that I twisted to shape) to clear where I couldn't reach.
