Tiny coolant leak help

Hi all. I seem to have a very small coolant leak around the thermostat area. Any idea whether it's a failing o ring or something?

I only had a new thermostat 3000miles ago. Picture below, it's circled in red. You can just about see a small damp patch.

Try a can of rad /pipe sealant. They work very well and before anyone says they can block small pipe diameters I have been told that some car manufacturers put leak sealant in on the assembly lines to avoid any seepages at point of purchase.

I work for a well known OEM and I do not believe that to be true. That photo isn't clear enough for me to be able to see properly, would seem suspect that its weeped after a change. Maybe they overtightened a bolt and the housing has a hairline crack? Or an O-Ring has a kink in it?

Hi John. Mine did exactly this a couple of years ago. There is a small green O-ring on the water temperature sensor that leaks and coolant runs down to the bottom hose clip as in your photo.
You need part 5 in this diagram.

This is what happens to the O-ring.

Just get a new one of these.

It is quite fiddly because there's not much room. I just put my Mechanix gloves on and squeezed my hands in. A few small screwdrivers and pliers are handy too.

Mine did this and is was the bottom rad hose itself that was worn. I replaced it along with the green O ring and problem solved. Fiddly job I seem to remember, there is a guide somewhere if you do a search if it turns out to be that.

Whilst there and the coolant was drained i did water pump and aux belts at the same time, worth doing depending on when/if they have been done before.
