they are the lightest you can get had the same on the jag for 4 years never been pulled :D

50% isn't the lightest you can get pal.

There are plenty of choices but 3 main grades

Regardless if you can get away with it go for it.

I'm getting a light smoke on the fronts.

Worst case if you get pulled is a proabition requiring an mot again.
All you need to do is take your mot to a police station and they never check the car

I've got tints on the fronts ... Only very light, the rears are dark OEM. It looks perfect, hardly noticeable when you look out of the windscreen and compare it to the side window, yet the nature of the coupe being very closed in with the cabin, they look darker from outside.

Its worth mentioning that as well as the issue of safety there is also the fact that any modification to a vehicle, that alters the standard to which it was manufactured, could render the insurance invalid if the insurance company are not notified - so you could also find that you are not covered. You are correct that window tinting is not currently included in an MOT, there are steps being taken to incorporate it in the future, so you could find yourself with a car that has passed its MOT but is still not road legal :?

It's always best to inform the insurance company.... my close friend is currently in a battle with his insurance company after seriously smashing his Ferrari 458. He wasn't speeding, stupidly clipped a curd that span the car into a tree causing thousands of pounds of damage. The insurance company are not willing to pay out because he had very lightly tinted windows and he didn't inform them. They sent engineers out to check the car over with fine toothbrush. B**&&^ds will use any excuse not to pay out, be careful.
