Tinkling/rattling from rear end - springs?

I frequently get a tinkling/rattling noise - almost sounds like a slack chain - from the back of the car - especially over speed bumps and sometimes when changing gear - is it likely to be broken rear spring(s)?
 
Could well be and would be the first thing I would be checking. It's easy to check if you can jack your zed up, and also a reasonably easy fix.
