Tin plate rattle in cabin

Hi,

I have a noise like a piece of tin plate rattling....starting to drive me nuts!
It is coming form the area between the steering column and the speedo cluster.
Anyone had this and know what's causing it?

It’s probably the plastic covers on the roll hoops. In a twist of acoustic trickery, it sounds exactly like it’s coming from the steering column area, and it drives you crazy! To prove it, reach back and grab/clamp the roll hoop cover behind you with one hand whilst the offending noise is apparent. It’s a relief just knowing the source of this relentless annoyance

I’ll check this out later. If it is this, what’s the fix?

I installed o-ring material along into the joining seam which worked ok. A bit of a fiddle. Sure there’s many options for sealant , glue etc for a quick fix? Anyone else overcome these rattly roll hoop covers?

I believe the OE fix is sticky backed foam tape on the inside to tension the clips of the two halves against each other. Trouble with that is getting them off without breaking the clips.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it wasn't the roll hoop rattling!

Went around a sharp bend at considerable speed this evening.....heard a metallic object, somewhere within the dash, sliding across and drop.....noise gone!!

Did the rattling sound like this? it's been frustrating me for the past year. Throught my broken disa flap and the detached sound generator tube was the cause however, after solving these two, i still get this. Any tips from the others? hopefully its just something on the dash that i can hopefully try and remove later

i did notice a parking card or something stuck there, but cant reach it because of how the windscreen slopes down.
