Not posted for a while but been following the forum so greets to all.

Earlier this evening set car in reverse on driveway and as soon as it moved the sound of a tin can underneath scraping on the floor. Got out checked and no tin can.

It's a E89 Z4 2.8i M just 8 months from new and about 2500 miles. Never a glitch so far.

Fine in forward gears but a tin can rattle sound moving in reverse.

Under warranty so will book in tomorrow.

Any suggestions of what it could be?

Booked it in online last night and got call 10am and will be collected and sorted tomorrow all being well along with a winter service. Must say service and attention from dealer so far has been top class when needed e.g. blown fuse.

Some reports of similar problems with M3's on Bimmer forum with a variety of suggested causes.

Have a vague suspicion it may be cold weather related. Will report back.

Car sorted.

Was a branch which had got snagged underneath the car. Couldn't see it until on the ramp. Needed parts removing to get at it and remove properly but thankfully no damage and now no rattling noise.

Bill should have been £74 as obviously not warranty but discounted to £30 which included me being driven home 4 miles and picked up again and car washed and shined. So excellent service.

Could only have picked it up when driving down my friend's drive way which is surrounded by trees and covered in leaves and twigs right out in the country. Only became noticeable in reverse gear.
