Time to replace discs and pads - recommendations please.

So it's time to replace all four corners on my 3.0 si sport coupe, and rather than just go oem I thought I'd ask my trusty pals on the forum for tips. Car not tracked but enjoys forum and Pistonheads runs.

Anyone know cost of oem for comparison purposes?

Have you ever experienced brake fade?

If the answer's No, I'd probably go OEM rather than after-market unless the after-market's are significantly cheaper.

Could even be one of those things that insurance companies try to get arsey about too, "it's been modified" etc. :(
 
Just ordered the stoptech discs and pads, thats what my pal from Prodrive recommended, he's tuned road-use BMW's before and said they perform better than the OEM's but just as well if not better than EBC :thumbsup: dont forget to tell your insurers!

Hi Tony, my company stocks textar pads which is the OEM make, they are around £20 cheaper than dealer prices. PM me if you want a quote. Cheers Rob.
 
+1 for Textar pads and discs, I went for the Textar ePads which are the new low dust/low disc wear version, I'd say they pull up with the same initial bite as the OEM (which can be lost with 'performance pads') stop per the OEM but feel a bit more 'meaty'. I don't really know about fade under extreme conditions but no problems for road use. Oh and my wheels are cleaner :)

Thanks chaps - less dust sounds good but wouldn't want to sacrifice performance. Anyone else got knowledge of the epads?

Which seems like a good price but ended up going with Eurocarparts - £188 all in for Pagid discs (didn't have both front and rear Textar ones in stock) and OEM Textar pads. That's using their DP30 discount code.

I needed new brakes anyway but I managed to properly bugger my front discs at Snetterton last week.
 
im putting EBC ultimax on mine and EBC pads, with tarox hoses and Motul fluid...

should be all done in about 2 weeks along with the other work im having done.. will report back then!

Changed mine a while back to EBC Ultimax discs & Green stuff pads. I'm going to be fitting 325mm discs on the front next year and will NOT be using any EBC products.
Two front pads and one rear pad have come away from the steel portion all having approx 7mm of pad left.
I recently replaced the front ones with Pagid pads from Eurocarparts and they feel far better than the Green sh1te pads ever did.
On the back of this next year I will probably go Pagid all the way round.
