Time to learn to change gear - new //M

The handling is better at the limit as there is less weight transference when the engine is more rigidly mounted. The trade off is a modest increase in NVH. Combined with RTAB limiters, it's probably the most effective handling modification available for a fairly modest outlay. It's a slippery slope mind, you'll be replacing the brakes and suspension just to handle the increase in power from your supercharger before you know it :D

Looks good mj2k - are they both yours?

The 2.5si is the wife's car.

Didn't look as daft on the drive when I had my coupe, but to our neighbours who won't spot the badging, we have 2 identical cars just slightly different colours.

Our most practical car now, is my wife's, for the incremental boot space that not having the battery in it offers!

Matt

Nice motor mate. Read through the thread and can say I've not had this issue so I'm going to warm it up and take it out on a blast to see if I experience the same issue at speed

Congrats

I'd say it's lovely... But your other task for tomorrow is photos :poke: should know better

Seriously though - the noise, right ? :driving:

The noise is the most evil thing when the pedal is planted, just the most angry sound I've ever experienced!

Great days Matt , the box does seem very close together for a while & agree the bite can seem aggresive but as i get more miles up i think that's how the car likes it
Every journey no matter how short or long is a memory , very special car's that have so many things to get under the skin .
3rd gear , bury the pedal for me is the killer , i feel like a doorman grappling with a scottish docker who wants another drink but has no more cash
Pics up asap

3rd gear is so far my favourite, it just seems amazing; from slow speed trundling to all out licence challenging speeds.

Wish I had some tunnels on my commute!

7000 miles, that's basically a brand new z4m in my book, and for half the price! Great find!

Personally I'm a big fan of 2nd from about 3.5k to up near the line. 3rd is also great because it's mental but you feel in control. But 2nd @ 3.5k RPM + buried loud pedal = hilariously terrifying :o :o :driving:

Try it on a wet road with traction control switched off...just make sure you've plenty of space :D

Sounds utter madness.

Need a large empty space, far far away from anyone!

Yeah, don't listen to him... He's a surgeon after more patients

1 rattle now solved, same place as in my coupe; the pice of plastic on the pax side of the tunnel where it meets the glovebox rattling away. Weirdly my wife's has never rattled here!

Lovely drive to and from work today, 95% motorway so a gently cruise at 80. I zeroed the 2nd trip computer & achieved 27.4 mpg, know it is not 100% accurate, but I am directionally very happy with that - the JCW by the same OBC method was 36.2. If I keep the boring miles with high mpg, it keeps more smiles per gallon for the fun roads at weekends.

Amazingly easy to get carried away on the motorway I think, but felt a nice place to be just cruising along with traffic. Annoyingly I have a slight wheel wobble at motorway speeds, so need to get the front balanced soon. Annoying as just had a 4 wheel alignment & would have assumed they would have done it....but thinking about it, they don't remove the wheels to align them!

Weirdly I still have a very small wobble at high speed, after a hunter alignment... And they balanced both front wheels for free too. Even stranger, one hand on the wheel and it wobbles, two hands (even gently) and I can't feel it. Doesn't get worse with increased speed either. I'm wondering if it's just a 'quirk' :?

Go back to the tyre fitters and ask them to check the balance of the front wheels. I bet that they're out by less than 10gms, but they'll be out of balance. Get them to balance them to the smallest weight they've got (5gms).

Any views on Costco as balancing experts? Off there Friday for shopping, but failing that will be a week before I can get to my usual tyre place.

When they checked them they needed to add 20gms to both front wheels. I'm changing the front tyres soon so I'll make that specific request Exdos, thank you. I assume this advice comes from a knowledge that the front end geometry on these cars is especially sensitive ? Or perhaps because the hydraulic steering provides more feedback than the electric on my old 3.0Si ?
