Time to go

So it's sad to say that it's time for me to leave zed ownership for a while, I have no doubt that I'll be back at some point.

My ownership was cut short by a lorry driver writing my car off. Unfortunately it's a cat b so I can't even get it back to strip it.

I do however have some parts that will be up for sale in the new year. Side covers, diff, subframe and whatever else I can find.

Everyone has been really helpful and friendly, this is probably one of the best forums I have been on.

I've met some really good people on here, hopefully I'll make it to zedfest again next year, just unlikely to be in a z4 😞

Picture attached was the result of a lorry driver not paying enough attention.

Damn, that's bad news.

It does piss me off that negligence can cause so much pain. The thing is he don't care, his company will sort out all the paperwork.

Hopefully you will get a decent pay out to help you with a replacement.

I saw one on Facebook pretty cheap £2.5k. probably needed some work but with yours as well might be worth a punt for someone who knows what they are doing.

That's really sad

I would be standing firm with the 3rd party insurance company and demanding that you can keep the car.

They can't force you to give up ownership of it. This may be different if you were claiming off your own insurance company and you were at fault but your not. Deal with the 3rd party insurance from now on. You don't need to speak to your own insurance company anymore as long as they have been informed of the accident.

Demand compensation to keep the car and remove parts that will sell quickly and scrap the rest. The seats and wings on the good side will sell quickly giving you the funds to get into another Zed quickly

That is a shame. When you are ready for another, come back here and we’ll help you find a good one.
Keep in touch

Ouch !! Thats a real shame and nice wheels too . Hope you get it all sorted the way you want .

A sad loss of a nice Maldives roadster. But look on the bright side, the drivers side wing looks to be intact

 Sad to see that.

Glad every one walked away. Enjoy Christmas and enjoy hunting for a replacement.

Sorry to see what happened but luckily it’s just metal and you dodged the bullet with just mental bruises. An opportunity to find an //M, maybe?

I'd love an M but still a bit rich for me lol

A replacement has been brought, fancied something different for the next fee months, maybe a year. Due to doing a few miles daily I have a 2010 2.0tdi TT. It's remapped and on air. It eats the miles up nicely and has ticked the air ride box for me. We'll see how long it stays before I get another zed. I already miss the sound of mine!!

The sound is the thing I miss most too. The 4 pot in my Mx5 sounds like a tractor on cold start, after the S54. :tumbleweed:

Don't get me wrong the TT doesn't sound horrendous, it's just not my zed, that thing sounded mean!!

That’s a shame mate, hope to see you again at Zedfest assuming we both go.

Cheers guys. I have no doubt I'll have another zed at some point. Trying something a little different at the mo. Giving a MK2 TT TDI quattro a go at the mo. It's on air so I've ticked a couple of boxes at the mo. I might get a project zed if one comes up local and cheap.

That’s heartbreaking mate, I hope you find a replacement that puts the same smile on your face, having heard your Zed at one of Fred’s Cotswold Airfield meets a few years back I would imagine your neighbours are delighted :(
