Time to ditch those Runflats!!

So it's finally time to ditch the Potenzas on the Zed. I purchased some 108's from a forum guy with Potenzas already fitted and good tread all round but coming from 17 non Runflats I honestly think I am going to have an accident if I don't get rid of them.
I travel on the m1 and m25 quiet a bit in commuting to the girlfriend and family in Brighton and am absolutely scared stiff in moving from lane to lane across the cats eyes and trams...and not to mention the potholes at low speed on minor roads..God takes me back to the days of my cortina and a dodgy steering rack, but in those days it was fun to have uncertainty in your direction of travel, now I know the direction I'm going and would like to stay there just a bit longer :D

So the question is ??

Which tyre and where would be the cheapest. I have heard a lot mentioned about the Goodyear Asymmetric 2's and think they maybe the ones to plumb for but would anyone else have their ideas. I've had a quote for Goodyears all round, 225 40 18 front and 255 35 18 back for £480 and they come to your place of work/home but what do you reckon guys?? Is this good?? Or is the choice of tyre wrong?? :driving:
 
I'm no expert but £480 fitted for Asymmetric's sounds pretty good to me. I like Michelin pilot super sports and have quite a few sets on various other cars so might be worth pricing those up as well. As you say though the goodyears are apparently very good boots so just personnel pref really. I reckon you'll be catching flies in your stunned open mouth when you change though, the difference when new ones have a few miles on them is amazing. Best of luck. :driving:
 
When I bought my car 3 months ago it came with new Kumho ecsta tyres up front and Bridgestone runflats on the rear, today I have just gone to my local Kumho dealer and ordered a pair of Kumho ecsta KU39 255/35/18 for £190 fitted, I will be glad to get these runflats off before it brakes my spine. :thumbsup:
 
I had goodyear asymmetric 2 fitted all round the other week for £520 so it's an ok deal.

Got no complaints tramlining gone need a few more miles to break them in properly but in comparison there safer than the run flats were!!!!
 
£393 delivered from Tyreleader.
Rears arrived on Friday, fronts arrived this morning.
Just need to get them fitted now.
 
Michelin Pilots would be about £490 at F1 Autocentres at the moment. I have the same size tyres as you and am going to get the Michelins all round in the next few days. Currently on runflat and I'm looking forward to ditching them!
 
I ditched the runflats for some normal Potenzas at the end of summer and they've been great so far - coped really well through winter as well.
 
I recently switched from Falkens to Eagle F1A2 when I changed wheels but would have no problems switching back as I rated them. Some say they wear quicker so that's a consideration if you do big miles but they are a lower price point in the first place, so the Falken FK453 is worth a look as a cheaper alternative.
 
Had my runflats on the rear taken off today and had a pair of Kumho ecsta put on and it has transformed the ride, much smoother now :thumbsup:
