Time for winters - with the assistance of Mrs. Overall

They look so good on your car those winters.

If you every want to sell let me know I have always loved that style of wheel :)

I leave mine out in all weathers. Never covered and it's never suffered, Aslong as its sealed it doesn't need a cover IMO. Just general upkeep is enough.

Mmmmm, interesting that.
But when its pissing down for days at a time I feel a little better about my car being out in it knowing that the soft top is covered. I use the same half cover as Paul and share his sentiments regarding the straps.

Yeah psychologically its beneficial because you have covered it.
But the roof is designed to get wet etc so a little frost won't do it any harm,
I have my paintwork sealed with carbon collective oracle which is basically like a ceramic coating. Also have it on my wheels aswel as platinum wheels.and I have there fabric sealant called repel on my roof also.
It's all much more beneficial to the car to not have an abrasive fabric layer that will catch dirt in the wind more than anything

The paint sealant lasts upto two years too so it's practically upkeep free and Aids in the cleaning process by becoming the active layer on top of the paintwork.

Cleaning my wheels with just a jetwash. No products used. The brake dust doesn't stick to the wheels because of the coating.

Those coatings sound really impressive Beetle but the primary reason I have a half cover on is to avoid water getting to the roof motor.

Are those coatings you use expensive? Did you apply them yourself or were they done by a detailer? Especially interested in the wheel coating - is it that effective?

The oracle coating is expensive. About £50 for something like 50ml. You apply it using a cotton pad. And it's plenty to do a whole car and have a fair bit left over

The platinum wheels is definately worth it, makes cleaning so much easier and it is a hard coating which protects the wheel and is extremely hydrophobic.
Think it was £20 for that, you apply it in the same way I did two coats and I still have 1third left.

There's no product id recommend more, they also do platinum glass which is the same principle, Google them and have a read

To get the best out of it I'd apply it to newly refurbished wheels personally. Any slight contaminant will get sealed under the coating otherwise.

They do offers on sample cleaning kits, to try the product, they have recently started making a tyre coating which I've just used. It makes the tyres shine naturally and they bead like hell! Which is odd to see on a tyre.

Good luck you won't be disappointed

Winter tyres? It's still mid teens down here! Where the bloody hell are you in the world?

Read the reasons for fitting ben . . . my GoodYears were getting damn dangerous so I'm using up the tread left on these winters before fitting either 35/40 GoodYears or 40/45 Vreds (both work out about £400).

Newcastle upon Tyne - a third the rain than that in the Lakes (600mm to 1800mm annual rainfall) and quite mild normally, I agree . . . . :D

I read that winter tyres aren't very effective at all in mild conditions.

Granted, probably better than battered old summer tyres

Oh yes - they break away with the lightest of provocation  . I won't be buying any more but if you had to use your Zed through the winter snow I've heard they are really effective. We can pick and choose how and when we use the Zed so unless it's for a bit of fun we won't be out in dangerous conditions (12K a year leisure use) but we'll soon rag these tyres and get back to the good stuff by the start of the new season, earlier if I get bored

Waiting for my winter tyres to be delivered. Like you Paul my Summer rears are not good enough for the wet and cold weather up here now.

Hoping to have them fitted for the weekend and then all going to plan new wheels and tyres for the Summer and the current 18's will remain my Winter wheels.

What you got in mind for the new wheels Richard?

Will be CSL reps. Want the real OEM ones but can't justify the extra cost but we will see when it actually becomes to getting the winters off. :D

Not tempted with "Tomk"'s set :? Surprised they havn't been snapped up & personally like the CS 8inch front set up + the finish against your black car should look mighty fine

I agree the colour would look good and halfway between hyper silver (common) and black which would be too much on my car.

I had seen the ad and didn't know about these wheels as all the threads / pictures I have read since I started browsing the forum where about CSL's.

That said they do look good and the rears are as concave as the CSL's. Any opinions on how both would drive.

CS as per standard I presume or would the car under steer a bit with the wider in relation rears?

CSL's a bit more tram lining and bit harder?

Decisions, decisions :D

New tyres and an F10 knob this month anyway so nothing happening until January.
