I decided to declare my garage queen SORN on the 30th November so gave it a little dust down before putting it onto the tyre trainers and covering up for the winter. Roll on spring :driving:

Half moon things I guess to keep the tyre in shape.

I just pump mine up to 50psi as per the book.
 
The best thing you can do is use the car but if it's being layed up, then put it axle stands.
 
When I last stored a car for a few months I indeed whacked up the pressures at bit but also rolled the car a few feet forward and back again now and then to ensure that there was no chance of flat spots. The extra pressure should insure thus but you can't be too careful :)
 
Is it really out of the question just to use the car ALL YEAR ROUND? I mean, it's a CAR! Suppose I would be grateful to own TWO vehicles just so I could........ but on the other hand, reckon I enjoy driving the Z just too much to abandon it in 'not so good weather'.

Keeps the car in good nick and money out of the governments wallet so thats a win win for me :D :thumbsup:
 
But so does a good wash! just like the wonderful summer weather we get. Is it not cost effective to keep the car on the road all year round rather than SORN and 2 lots of excise duty plus stop/start insurance cover?

There are lots of threads about this Mark555.
If you bought your Z as a Daily Driver, then you have no choice but to run it through the winter.
If like me and many others it's a hobby, summer weekend car used only for fun, (a 3rd car for me)
you budget for that, you pay your money you make your choice. Each to their own.
 
Mine is a user but I do try to keep it dry ,if it rains it gets dirty so I have the pleasure of washing it then tucking it away till next time . Now where did I put my keys!!.
 
Mine's a daily driver 365 days of the year. We also have a Discovery but Mrs R needs that and I have to drive to the station. Clearly there is no reason at all why a car should not be driven year round. By the same token, if one were lucky enough to have the use of the other, then you do have a few quid on road tax and insurance, as well as general wear and tear, by taking it off the road for a few months in the winter,

The above all said, I have yet to drive the Zed in anything other than a sprinkling of snow. :o
