Time for a Change

Hi all,

After an eternity of faffing as to what to replace the Z3 with i.e. something more practical I will be trading in the Z4 :o

Dealer has put together my spec for an M135i today and popping in tomorrow to place the order and get a build date etc.

Will be really sorry to see the Z4 go, its such a lovely looking motor but hoping the 1 Series will be an enjoyable replacement :)

Hope the 1 will get more action than your Z Tim
What about the Z3 ? is that going or staying ?

 I have a feeling it will :D

The Z3 is staying for now as will still use it when the snow comes, I just couldn't part with it to be honest.

Nice choice Tim

I'm thinking of replacing my Z4 later this year, much as I love it I wont have another zed, just need a change!

Thanks John, I've stuck with BMW as simply my dealer is superb, always spot on and helpful and close to my home which is handy.

Bit of an engine change.

The N20 engine I find a little Jeckyl and Hyde, its pretty smooth once warmed up but still with a background tap tap tap at idle but at times when cold it sounds plain awful to be honest, almost diesel like. If you trawl through all the forums its the same complaint with this engine. Not knocking it as on the move its great but the 1.9 M43 engine in my Z3 is a paragon of smoothness when cold.

You've had a 1er before Tim.
Did you not consider a Porsche for a change?

Hi Terry,

I had two 1ers before the Z4 and nearly went for a third instead of the Z4 but fancied a change at the time.

Afraid I don't like Porsches, just not my cuppa :(

I've gone for the 1er for basically the engine, bang for buck and practicality which I really need now.

No Mr W, SWMBO has a TT and much as I like it we don't need two of them :D

Was there any equity in the Z4?

Hi Kevin, yes there was, but I need to sit down with the dealer and go through the figs as he mentioned I was getting a 500 quid loyalty bonus lol no idea what that is but want to see the figs on paper as it might affect what I've specced i.e. in a good way.

Ooft! A 135! Never for a second saw that one coming! Cracking car though Tim  I assume the added power is for when your Mother is not in the car and the sound, heavenly even when pootiling about.

Lol cheers, if I hadn't spotted the dealer offer on it last week I probably wouldn't have taken the plunge.

It's hard letting go of the Z4 purely on the looks but for me now a hatch is going to be far more useful and useable to be honest.

I did notice a few threads on such subjects. It's a lot of car for the money they can be had at. Hopefully all goes well tomorrow at the dealers. Yes the E89 is a stunning car but the new F Series 1 series is not a bad looker either. The M135i was something I enquired about before I took he E89 plunge.

I've always found the1 series be it hatch or prev coupe or vert that they were a very nice place to be and the new 1 and 2 series are no different. The residual on that if and when you change/move on should be pretty good too but that's far to far in the future at the mo.

Glad there was some equity in the Z4. Yes - the £500 loyalty payment is genuine...Deb got that on her new 1'er. She got the dealer discount (over the web price) which was about 11% I think and the loyalty bonus and I think there was another £2k for equipment (but I cant remember for sure if that was just the Z4).

Get some toys on it!!!! I don't know what's standard (the M-Sport that Deb got had more standard toys than the M-Sport we got 3 yrs ago). But you need toys!!! Pro Nav!!!! Upgraded sound etc!!!!

Should be a nice car....what colour?

You will miss the Z4 though....I miss mine very badly!

Just speced up one up choosing all the toys I'd chose (if I had the dosh!)...£35,950!!!!!

You gotta get "full black panel display" if its not included - it give you more info in the dash by adding an additional LCD panel under the right hand speedo (is the speedo or rev counter on right?).
