So I've just got back from viewing this car...... Couple of things concerned me , it's on SOR. Its owned by the MD of a supercar rental lease place which instantly to me was a hell no. Apparently its his personal car but I'm not sure I'd even want to take the risk.

I wasn't blown away with the colour in the metal. I think the ruby star is the colour for me. Didn't get to drive the car , but the prep wasn't great it's very dirty .

The dash board feels as dated as the z4 and the seating position felt very familiar to my z4m with it's carbon tillets , abit lower in my car. I'm looking forward to driving one in anger.

Visually this thing is stunning , it's just looks / feels special. The OPC thinks these will loose another 15k from where it is now. Then will shoot back up in a few years.

The search for the car begins .... Also I need a vat qualifying car

My stomach went down when you mentioned the current owner and their line of business - a big no no. It will be good to hear your thoughts on the ruby star.

I don't think that you are the kind of guy who buys a car and is thinking about getting something that will be a good seller. You have a stand-out business and you want a stand-out car. I am really pleased that you are excited about this and your mind will be in turmoil for a while, then you will make the decision. Go for it and enjoy it. Remember, you deserve it. Byron, just go for it, I will be honest, I prefer the blue but thats a personal choice - just go for whatever colour you like.

Life is short so enjoy it while you can and if that itch has to be scratched just do it, I am sure it will help. the business grow no end

If you can afford the Porsche and want one just get it! Especially given what you have been through. I only regret things I didn't do, never things I did!

Never got the Cayman appeal TBH. Well maybe when they were significantly cheaper than a 911, but not anymore.
A Cayman is a 'poor man's 911' IMO. Just now they are bloody expensive.

If I came to your workplace as a customer and saw a Cayman (whatever flavour), I would think "shame he can't afford a 911". My opinion.

I have been looking at the 991 Turbo recently. I am old enough to still remember when a Porsche 911 Turbo was the pinnacle of sportscars.

I have been looking at the 991 Turbo recently. I am old enough to still remember when a Porsche 911 Turbo was the pinnacle of sportscars.

Mid engine and pretty much 50/50 weight distribution makes the Cayman a fantastic "proper" Porsche product. They call the 911 a widow maker for a very good reason IMHO.

A fantastic car the GT4RS obviously, one thing I would say is they are supposed to be extremely loud. I wonder whether that could get annoying after the honeymoon period has worn off. If not, then go for it!

When I bought my 718 I got a half day experience at the Porsche experience centre at Silverstone. Among other things they have two, small tight tracks. I spent most of the afternoon passing 911's on those tracks.

My thinking exactly, drive these things while you can and hopefully in years to come nice examples will be fetching a premium as everyone realised their mistake jumping on the electric bandwagon.
