Tightening diagonal brace

Hi,
Excuse the dirty engine bay, it's on the list to give it a clean! Planning to check whether the diagnonal brace bolts in the engine bay need tightening and just wondered if there was anything I should be mindful of before starting. Do you just tighten them as (reasonably) tight as you can or is there a specific torque?

Everything has a torque spec. It would be in the TIS pages, but I don't have the link. do a search on the forum for TIS or torque?

I found the one's on the wife's car have come lose a couple of times.
I confess to not finding a correct torque, but used a few years of experience and tweaked them to '3 white knuckles'.
What I did do though, was fit new nuts, with new spring washers under them, and now they have stayed tight.

BMW TIS has the answers, although finding them can be tricky! I have this one bookmarked,

They can snap off if overdone, TIS suggests 41 nm for the nut

Excellent, can always rely on the forum to produce the answers in double quick time.

My point was really that the nuts will maybe need replacing after all these years; especially if they've been on and off a few times; and the addition of a spring washer, or perhaps a Nyloc nut, would help to keep them tight.

However, be aware that the addition of either of these can affect the torque setting so go careful, especially if you have little mechanical experience and are not used to 'judging' when something feels about right.
