Tidying up interior

So the previous owner of my Z has left some parts of the interior looking very tired and in need of a spruce up! Just wanted to know people opinions, tips, recomendations or anything helpful really of how I can tackle the couple of things below.

1. Center Console.
Looks like the previous owner used the area below the handbrake to store keys, loose change etc and as a result the trim has been scratched up as photographed below.





2. Steering wheel spokes.
The paint work on top the steering wheel spokes has peeled.

Replacement or carbon fibre wrap?

Don't really fancy wrapping it. And replacement sounds pricey? Would it possible to spray it?

Hi r.a.,

I just did my centre console plastics last month using Hycote Matt black spray paint. It is a little time consuming, but very simple.

Firstly remove gear knob (put in gear, release clutch and just pull up - don't lean directly over the gearknob as a black eye is a little embarrassing). Then remove gaitor by pulling edges inwards where it meets the plastic surround. This will let you access the clips that hold the surround with the hazard switch in it. Detach the clips and remove, then slide out the middle section of plastic below the handbrake. Pull the centre armrest up and forward and remove by snipping the cable tie holding the handbrake gaitor in place.

Lightly sand all black plastic with wet and dry (800 then 1500 grit), mask up everything with plastic sheet, including sheets and dash, then spray away.

Sand the removed plastics and spray away from the car. Allow to dry (I would allow overnight if possible) and re-assemble.

I applied 3 coats and all the plastics now look like brand new.

The steering wheel is probably better being wrapped (I did my door handle trims in brushed aluminium) or sprayed Matt black. Vinyl wrapping interior parts is really easy and the finish looks great - hairdryer, sharp scalpel and just take your time.

Do you need to take of steering wheel off, then remove the plastic trims to rap them..?

If spraying with matt paint, I'd recommend a matt lacquer. I did the steering wheel spokes once and they eventually went 'shiny' in high touch areas. The lacquer should prevent this, and prevent chips, scratches etc. somewhat.
