Tidy up engine bay wiring?

The last type is the best when bonded with heat shrink at the ends but you need to be able to disconnect the ends of the wires and slide it over the cables which would be difficult in your case. There are plenty of places that stock this type of stuff try and shop around for best prices.

Thanks for the links. Would prefer to use heatshrink if I can but as you say, Toe-side, it might be an arse to disconnect the harness. Car is under dealer warranty so don't want to fiddle about too much. That RamAir stuff looks like it might do the trick if heatshrinking isn't possible
Would be surprised and quite worried if it was rodent damage! On close inspection, it doesn't look like the result of aimless gnawing - just looks like the protective sheath has perished in places where there is high tension/abrasion.
Is rodent damage common? I've chucked our cats off the hood several times in the past but might have to get them back on the case. Would probably limit the number of bird poo strikes too.

Living out in the sticks I have had mice damage to cabling and they love soft rubber (?!) so any thing similar they go for it. Not sure how many calories they get out of it!
Never had problems on the Z.
I have also on one occasion had their bigger cousins visit (rats) a long time ago on an older car I can only assume they were rats due to the speed and size of the damage.
The spiral cable wrap (1st link) might be a good alternative....... gives a tidy protective finish and doesn't need disconnection.

personally, tape the loom with amalgamating tape.

I've used the self-amalgamating tape also with great results (even if I didn't know it was called that).

I was shocked. My car sits in the attached garage with plenty of other food sources available, we have not had a history of rodent problems, so I was stunned. I guess it may not be that uncommon?

Quite impressed - that pic above is from when I first put it on but it has since blended into to itself a bit. You just need to make sure everything is clean before you put it on and then it adheres to itself really well without being at all gooey.

+1 Always use this stuff, it's great for tidying up and sealing.
