Ticking noise from engine....

If I put my foot down sometimes I hear a ticking noise from the engine bay? Its not a knocking. It seems most noticeable if say I'm in 6th at low revs and just put my foot down. I cannot haar anything at tick over, just seems when its under load. Almost like a pinking noise?

Any ideas?

Can't say I've ever notice mine doing that... are you running super unleaded fuel such as Vpower or Tesco 99?

Labouring the engine is surely a bad idea whatever the car, I tend to use 6th above 50mph as a minimum, 5th down to 40.
