Tick over RPM

Hi guys just looking for some info my Z4 - 2.5 ticks over at approx 750rpm ? I have a pal who's 2.0 BMW 3 series ticks over at 500rpm he tells me he achieved this by using different ( fully synthetic oil) I know they are different engines but does any one have any thoughts on this and is a lower tick over beneficial ? :|

So does my 750 rpm sound about right ? (His car is a 3 series touring and is a 2.0 petrol)? :wink:

Mines a 3.0 and sits at just under 1,000 for a minute or so on start up and then settles somewhere between 700 & 750. Seems to vary, but not greatly. So yours sounds ok.

Wouldn't worry about it. Mine ticked over at 750 ish

Can't imagine any zed ticking over at 500rpm. And even if it did, what advantage would you be hoping for?

Mine is similar to Bing's start up just under 1,000 then tick over at approx 750. I had a 2005 320d and that ran at approx 800-900 .it seemed a lot slower to get to 6500 though. :evil:

1000 rpm when you first turn it on then quickly down to 750-800rpm
