The colour seems a bit like VO…the angle, the degree of sunlight and its shade affect the perception of the colour more strongly than with some other colours
Spot on and that's why it appeals to me. It looks very aubergine on a dull day. Nice to have something which is interesting to look at and sometimes takes you by surprise.

Better than VO for me, VO looks a bit brown in anything other than sunshine… Thundernight looks equally good in shade/Sun

No, VO is a much better colour than the Sepang Bronze (brown) E85/6 fans get so excited about.

I had a VO with a black roof, I did like it…. A lot more when it was sunny 😎

Exactly, I had a VO E89 and it looked spectacular in the sunshine at the right angle. Other times it looked very ordinary.

I bought a colour matched boot spoiler recently, I was convinced they'd got the colour wrong until I looked at it outside in the sunlight...

BMW has done better oranges, but I still love it.

Stunning colour as far as I’m concerned, although we do have one so also a bit of bias here

Ours was sat in the showroom for about 5h before we bought it. Whilst sat there doing the paperwork, it was the car getting by far the most attention as well. Even over an M3 Competition that was sat next to it.

Some colours like VO and thunder night really do need sunshine of the Mediterranean type to come alive. I bought my e89 on the strength of seeing a VO in Spain. But it’s not so inspiring in the U.K. Unfortunately I bought a AW E89 which is nice but boring everywhere….. same things apply to thundernight - dull most of the time, amazing occasionally! BMW colours aren’t that great. Why can’t we have Renault colours ?! Do people agree with me that Renault has it nailed?

Certainly agree about BMW colours, I’ve moaned about that to sales staff in the past, they agreed!

I’m not really familiar with Renault colours so can’t give an opinion, I know that Mazda do a stunning metallic red on the MX5, would be great to see a G29 in that!

Some time back I bought a Topaz Blue E46 from Germany and had it in the UK for a year before bringing it to Spain and yes in the dull weather of the UK the colour never really came alive, totally different story once I got it over here in the Spanish sunshine. I wouldn't go so far as to say BMW colours aren't great though, over the years they have had some great paint colours plus you have all the individual options too (although maybe not for the Z4). In recent years I think Toyota have got some rather nice paint options.

I think thundernight is a fantastic colour but I do think different colours suit different cars and in this case I don't think it works so well on the G29 as it does on the new 2 series. For the G29 Z4 I think misano blue, sapphire black, SF red and frozen grey are the best options, IMHO of course. White works well too but I am all done with white, having had way too many white cars!

Totally biased here as I currently have a San Francisco Red and previous a Valencia Orange.

Impeccable taste obviously 8)
