Thumping noise

Hi everyone.
I posted here couple of weeks ago about rear driver’s
Wheel noise I had the wheel bearing checked the garage said it’s fine no movement checked all 4 wheels. The last couple of days the the noise is there again thudding noise in straight line it still sounds like the rear drivers wheel.
What else can I check if it’s not wheel bearing.
Help would be appreciated thank.
 
Get the tyres checked, look for cuts or stone pushed deep into the tyre. How old are they, has the car been sitting in one position for some time.
 
Take the wheel off and check the tread surface and sidewalls for an 'egg'/ lump. The steel belting can get damaged/fracture and cause a 'hernia' in the tyre which gives you the 'thump, thump, thump' as you drive along...potentially very dangerous. I've had this twice on different tyre brands over the years. :thumbsup:
 
Thanks firebobby had the tyre off this morning completely clear. Could the alloy be buckled or maybe the hub or am I looking to hard. Think I will go with changing the wheel first cheers guys. :thumbsup:
 
Rear drop link? They do break / come off mounting - bush perishes

I had this a few years ago with a car we had then..it was a bit of belt damage I think..when the guy at the garage put it on the wheel balancing machine you could see the "egg" forming...tyre looked OK when stationary..
 
Thanks wonkydonky I’m in northeast thanks for your offer. I have a rear staggered alloy in my garage I’m going to put tyre on that and see what happens. excuse the pun it’s driving me crazy but I will get there in the end with all the the help thanks guys
 
Jack the rear up and set it firmly on stands, chock the front wheels. Start the engine and put it in gear, then check to see if the rear tyres run true or have a noticeable bump or wobble.
Same thing that patriot66 is talking about
 
Hi everyone problem solved. I bought a 108 alloy from a guy in guisborough north York because my alloy was cracked had crack welded but put the bought alloy on the rear of car after refurb. It now appears the alloy that I bought in good faith was buckled ie the knocking from rear drivers side checked Bering-tyre-hub-drop links-roll bar bushes low and behold it was the bent alloy wheel. So beware of buying single alloy wheels I’ve learnt my lesson test before buying. Thanks too everyone who helped me with this issue. Happy days. :driving: :thumbsup:
