Throttle “sticking”

Took her for a drive today and every time I hit the throttle it over regs slightly and takes a good half a second to a second for the revs to start dropping again.

Don’t suppose anyone has any idea what it could be?

Check the fuel trims, maf sensor and intake boot for leaks.
Could be mis-fueling.
Lots of possible causes but I've seen similar symptoms from duff sensor readings due to vaccum leaks or dead maf.

is this as you change gear? sounds a bit like clutch slip but that would only happen when you use throttle straight after a gear change

In the good old days of throttle cables and carbs I would have said stick your toe under the pedal and see if it pulls back up.
Whilst that's not entirely relevant, it is worth checking the mat isn't catching the pedal, or any grit etc is jamming it slightly.
Get the simple stuff out of the way first.

Went for a drive this morning and the issue seems to have gone. Will still check these bits just to be sure it doesn't come back. Thanks!

This was my initial thought but doesn't seem like that is the issue. Did have that happen to me ounce though, never forget the moment when I went to dip my clutch and it wouldn't come back after getting tuck behind the carpet. Very careful with the carpet placement now

The issue also came up revving from idle while stationary so ruled out the clutch there.
