Hey guys... Does this throttle reset work the same on the new E89 ?????

I'd be interested to know if this is the same process for the e89, has anyone tried it? I've had a quick look for mention in other threads but haven't found anything yet.[/quote

Try this:

"1. Put key in the ignition
2. Click on the Start button without having your foot on the accelerator. At this point the lights on the dash will all light up.
3. Push the accelerator to the floor and hold it for about 30 seconds. For me at about 20 seconds I heard a very faint sound. This is the reset sound. Don't worry if you don't hear it. Just keep your foot on the pedal for about 30 seconds.

That's it. Now start the car and test it out.

Digging up an old thread here but prefer to do this than create duplicate threads.
When resetting the throttle, is there a confirmation sound/notification to let you know it's been registered? I'm going to try this tonight :D

Instructions lacking detail,
hold throttle pedal down while turning ingnition to on position for 15 sec
Turn ignition off
Wait 15 sec
Then start car

See Bing's reply for a little fine tuning? Straight forward enough.

Must be the oldest regularly revived thread on the forum. :)

My wife's Z4 was was sitting for 2 weeks while we were out of town. We came back to a dead battery that was replaced 3 days before we left - that's another issue.

When I finally got the battery recharged and the car started, the motor would just surge up & down, car would not go more than 3 mph.

While she started looking for a rental car in the face of having the Z4 towed yet again, I stumbled upon DaiC's revised Throttle Reset so thinking I got nothing to lose went out and tried it exactly as posted. Ran like a champ, after tooling around the neighborhood to see if the problem was going to come back I got the nerve to hit the back road. I hit 70 mph no problem, seems to be OK.

All lights are off but the Service Engine Soon warning, will ask my mechanic about that, we just has it serviced at the last towing a month a go so it should be good. Assume that is from the battery being disconnected for 3 days while I charged the battery.

Thanks for the info, saved me another tow and a mechanics bill.
