A beautiful day and we met up at our usual place heading out to Stanhope via Derwent Water. The weather was so nice we thought we'd take the opportunity of photos at the dam.

From there we headed for a little known route (Cherrym again) but yours truly missed it - never mind, the route we took was glorious with traffic on side and a wonderful third and fourth gear smooth hoon to Alston and then on to Hartside. Mixing it with a group of motorcycles we took the opportunity to head over Hartside and down to Melmerby - a coach pulled over, on the descent, to let us through and we had a return to the café free of traffic with Chezsherman taking the lead on the return run making the most of his Zed (another great run Craig
). The beautiful weather meant we got fabulous views of the Lakes and across to the Solway Firth.

After a quickish lunch Mike took the lead and set an excellent pace as we set off for a return via Alston and past the Kilhope Mine Visitor Centre then a short-cut over the fells to Blanchland

This road from Blanchland to Hexham has one of my (many) favourite sections, which I prefer in the reverse direction to this, but runs a tight ox bow type complex with a change in height dropping down and up and then out all in about 80 yds. . . . . . .
Here's the entry

Into the bottom bend

Rising up to a tight left hander

Here's a view of the section (taken over my youngest son's shoulder as we exited - good shot Mike!)

(I prefer entering this section from this side - dropping down and into the tight left - brilliant.
Yet again Mike showed us another short cut and new route to bring us home (we were short of time) but another possible route to keep in mind for future Forum hoons.

Another excellent mid week hoon - Thanks Mike, thanks Craig and thanks Mike (my son) for the photos.
