Threading Wires through the Boot/Seat rear Bulkhead....

As per the title.

I have a DICE module installed that currently resides in the boot. Now I have no issue with this but would rather have the "input end (where you plug the ipod) to sit in the box between the seats.

My question is how do you thread wire through the bulkhead? I had a look this weekend and cannot see any holes nor any area where I could potentially feed it and its a bit of a concern as its something I'd really like to do. Anyone able direct me? :wink:

Unless I am not reading your post correct there is a bloody get hole in the bulkhead between the seats if you pull the boot liner out.

Cool beans people, so to summise there is hole in the middle which can be clearly seen when the fabric is removed, great.

I assume the cubby hole boxes in the bulkhead are relatively easy to remove from the front and this is a two min job. Thanks for the pic PVR.

not so sure that part is so straight forward, other threads reference having to take apart most of the console...

If all you want to do is feed a wire through members have done this without removing the interior centre console. I'm not saying it's easy but there have made just enough space between a CD changer and the cubby hole, or you could drill a hole in the back of the cubby hole from the boot and feed through from there.

PVR has done lots of work in this area so would accept what he says

Coolio Hutch I think your latter suggestion will be the one to follow.

I'll have a crack at it this weekend and then my newly acquired IPOD touch will have no reason to make me get out the flippin car and reattach it in the boot every time I turn the ignition off!

good luck, If I could drill a hole, probably the option I would choose, but worst case you may need to remove the centre rear panel, it's not hard to do but a little time consuming. I did this to install satNav.

Not forgetting that in the top left hand corner of the boot there is a huge access hole which comes out behind the passenger seat behind the small grille.

This is the point that BMW use to run some of the front to rear looms through. I had to use it to retrofit the bluetooth cabling through to the centre console.

BTW - nothing is easy on running cables around the Z4. I've done them all over the place and all are tight and fiddly :thumbsdown:

SatNav cable also routed through this hole and plugs into same connectors.

I'm assuming the dice plugs into where the CD changer is connected so the centre cubby is your best bet.

There is no way I would drill a hole through the rear bulkhead given the work involved Vs threading through an existing hole. You'll need to drill a much larger hole, rustproof/paint it and then insert a rubber grommet to prevent chaffing.

I meant to drill a hole throught the plastic cubby hole, not the bulkhead, as PVR's photo shows there is plenty of room already through the Bulkhead.
