Thoughts on tyres?

I need to bite the bullet and buy some new tyres for my Coupe. BlackCircles are quoting £720 for 18" Michelin Pilot Sports, £788 for Pirelli PZeros and £886 for Michelin Sport 2 Zeros. The Bridgestones are on back order and I can't get them in time. My local fitters think they can get some PZeros for a little less than BlackCircles quote but stock is limited and I need them in the next week or so due to first MOT coming up.

Any thoughts? I had Michelins replace my Bridgestones on my last Z4 roadster's 108's and had no porblems but would like to know what people think of Pirelli and the PZeros in particular...

Many thanks

Pilot Sport & Pilot Sport 2 are Michelin, not Pirelli.
Of those, the PS2 are the best.

If you're looking at saving money, then try Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, or Continental SportContact 3.

Thanks - original thread corrected! I'm okay(ish) paying this amount so not trying to save money but the main issue is availability and wear. I know I can get the Pzeros fitted next week but I want to make sure they have some life to them - the Bridgestones on at the moment are original and have lasted 31k miles which I think is pretty good for a heavy rear drive car. I did have some pirellis on the back of an MR2 I had 15 years ago but they didn't last long (12k!!!), although that may have been down to the weight on the rears and my driving!

There should be no issues with availability unless you're stuck to one tyre fitter.
I tend to just call around or use the internet to find out who has the best offers on - Costco offer a 20/25% discount when you buy 4 tyres at the same time.
My local tyre place is quite good though and can get me almost any tyre within a day or two, and is only usually £10-£20 a tyre more expensive than the online ones.

The websites I use are:

Tyre life will be a function of the compound and how you drive. My front Continentals (OEM on an ///M) last about 20000 miles, but the rears get about 10,000.

mmm-five - Excellent summary and now of course PS3s

Agreed some good suggestions there, Vredestein are often overlooked, I have used their winter tyres for years on my 3-series before defecting to Audi  (Let's start an interesting thread on Winter tyres later in the year, I'm still waiting for Summer yet though.....brrrrrr!)
I have Bridgestone RE050's RFT on my Z4 both 17" and 18" and these seem a good balance between wear and grip wet and dry, but I don't hammer my car too much, anyway tyres are a personal thing, I would say my ride is hard with either the 17's or 18's on, then again it is a sports car.
On the subject of RFT's I hated them on my 3, made the handling all wooly and hoppity about the back end (16" wheels), but the Z seems much better behaved on exactly the same tyres, even if it breaks springs...lol.
I had a very frightening experience on the motorway with non-RFTs, so switched back to them VERY quickly, -changing an offside front wheel on the motorway in torrential rain with traffic thundering past you at 80mph inches from your shoulder is an experience I would not want to repeat, especially with loved ones in the car.
Thats the trouble with tyres, you don't get to try them before you buy 'em!
Just get 3 sets of wheels: Trackday, B-Road, and Family! :P
