Thoughts on this Z4?

I do look at it from another angle indeed, as mine is just a weekend toy so I have different requirements (i.e. needs to be perfect and no miles on it). As you need it as a daily driver, you would probably look at it differently from me.

It all comes down to personal preference anyway, as I for one did not like the auto when I test drove it. But again, I look at it for toy value - not driving in traffic jams for example

I hear you, but 15k really is the maximum I've got to spend. Now if the guy selling it wants to drop it to that, then I'm there .....I know, no chance!

IMHO yes, you shouldn't get one without heated seats, as prospective buyers when you come to sell it will look for that, and it might make it difficult to shift on. Someone before suggested that this has been for sale for ages, that must mean something, otherwise it would have sold. Good cars at the right price don't hang around for ages.

No fit state, i used to have a Fiat Coupe 20vt a few years ago and know full well about the importance of maintanence!! Still miss the 5cyl growl and the turbo kick sometimes :evil: ! Bangles designs do seem to appeal to me!

And Rusty is absolutely right with the two very different uses that people require of these cars.
Mine is a daily driver so seeing a few stone chips and so forth did'nt make me bat an eye when i bought mine. Its only a matter of time before you scuff an alloy yourself so perfection is best left alone for your own sanity!

Heated seats was never high on my priority list, i've had them before but never considered them that important, i must be weird or something!

Ringing the dealer is a great idea to check history, i have done this before and they are always happy to confirm things and give you some piece of mind.

Indeed not, mine was on Pistonheads for a whole 6 hours before I got the offer from the buyer. That was followed by 21 more interested emails.

Thank goodness I did not waste any advertising money on autotrader or so.

Bangle was certainly on to something back then They do sound nice when flooring them in 3rd gear :evil:

The odd chip and slight curbing are things that are gonna happen in time, I kinda like a second hand car to have a few minor imperfections, so when I add to them it's no big deal. That said If the body has the slightest sign of a stratch/dent or body repair I wont look twice at it.

Its funny, you go on the Fiat Coupe forum and say that low milage is a high priority in looking for one, and you'll get properly slated for it. The feeling there is one that has 100k miles on it and has been loved, is a far better option than one with 50k on it with less known about it's history. One of the best buys over there at the moment is one with 150k miles on the clock!

I really think as these car get older/cheaper, not having heated seats wont be a problem when coming to sell, but having things like Sat Nav and 18" wheels will really sell it.

Agree on the seats and wheels heated seats were not on my list of must have but 18s were i was just very lucky to find a car with heated M seats

The Auto box i think is fine in these cars as they are a luxury roadster not a TVR although my friend who had a Griffith 500 was very impressed with the 3.0 performance.

I'm still a couple of weeks away from getting one, so I've short listed this one and am going to see what else crops up over the next couple of weeks.
