Thoughts on this car?

Hi all still looking for by next daily and a high mileage E89 / E86 is still looking favourable.

I have seen a nice white E89 with high mileage which could fit the bill if the price is right.

What are peoples thoughts on this car? Even better does anyone know anything about this car?

Thanks

Ash

Thats taken 120k very well looking at the interior pics, the fact it’s had the timing/oil pump chains & tensioner replaced makes it a safe bet for years if it sells at a good price - as always give those 326 wheels a good examination on the inside rims.

It looks a good proposition but I'd be looking at what a decent guide price for a comparable car is. I did try to get a value on it via autotrader but the system advised 'we are unable to provide a value on this car. Please contact our security team'. Not sure this bodes well but worth highlighting. Maybe other forum members know what this means.
The same seller has had it previously listed on ebay at a buy it now price of £8995.

Being pernickety the listing mentions a stop/start system. Given (from the photos) it doesn’t seem to have formal ‘stop/start’ I wonder if there’s anything else not quite accurate; was ‘stop/start’ an option on pre LCI cars?

Yeah it has. The button is next to the driver's seat heater button in the pictures.

Agree with Rob about the interior. The driver's seat looks better than mine with 27k on. Nothing on MOT check regarding cracked wheels!

I wonder what the reserve is? I'll guess £9k. :)

Its not worth £9k in my opinion but ill but looking to put a bid on it.

I expect it not to meet the reserve price if I am honest! Ill be sure to look at the wheels etc if I am lucky enough to win it.

I know that a WBAC value isn't the private market rate but it helps gauge an estimate.

That car if its in mint condition and they find nothing wrong with it to knock down the price a bit it is £5,835 before taking any fee's etc

So its not a £9k car IMO its worth more than WBAC suggest however.

Looks like they want as close to £9k as possible! Can't work out if it's a dealer. Looks like it may be.

Time will tell what it sells for I guess but I don't see it going for £9k.

Ill stick some bids in and keep you updated :)

The company below fitted the new chain and guides..... Would this put you off?

Apparently OEM parts were used, I have ask if they have an invoice for the work

The company themselves wouldn't put me off but it points to an owner doing things 'on the cheap' IMHO. That would. :)

Yes that is what worries me! If its not been done correctly it could be new engine time! Ill be doing fairly big mileage too.

If it'd been done wrong it would have failed by now or there would be obvious signs of poor running. Changing a cam chain is bread and butter work to most garages.

Full service history at BMW dealer, bought the parts from BMW dealer but got those other guys to do the work?

Does sound a bit on the cheap, and I'd guess full service history means the absolute minimum 20k miles or whatever oil changes.

On the other hand, 40k of those miles were done in 2 years, so probably a lot of motorway miles.

At £6.5k it sounds like a decent bet.
