Thoughts on these M's

Sorry but I'm probably going to be posting a few of these

No contrasting leather, gutted about that but the spec looks very good to me. I take it 10 speakers the is DSP system? Full BMW service history is also a big plus.

If only it had red leather.

As the M is quite rare do you think it necessary to have to make a compromise, i.e. coloured leather?

Or this:

Add says cruise control, but I cant see the stalk?? Also no bluetooth or did this come with sat nav as standard? Oh and why not put a new MOT on the car to encourage buyers?

Both look OK from an Ad but the issue is that you need to be satisfied on the pec before going so far to view.

Some like black interiors, some coloured. You know what is important to you. What is really important is the condition. Has there been any paint repairs and if so why? Is the service history really BMW or some back street Indy? How worn are brakes? Is it really FSH? Remember these cars should be serviced at least once every 2 years regardless of what the service indicator says.

Are th seat bolsters worn, has the car been more in, are the tyres a decent make? Wheels kerbed?

Any noises fom suspension? Broken springs? Does everything work.

No Bluetooth shouldn't be an issue, it's rubbish anyway. Same for DSP.

There are enough of these cars left for the right spec to come along but it needs to be the right spec in good condition and possibly the right price.

My first car was the wrong spec (black interior) an I couldn't live with it. That was n expensive mistk but I never regretted paying to correct that mistake as I've had years of pleasure since.

Sat nav is only really important as it let you make the most of Intravee and that is nice to have, even though all the BMW stereos sound not great.

In summary, the main thing is - has it been crashed, has it been messed with. What will need spending on it.

Both of these cars look OK but the first sign of a neglecting owner is the service history. I know an Indy will have probably done at least as good a job as a Bastard Muppet w***er Techbnician but most choose an Indy because it's cheap.

10 spaker does not mean it has DSP, could be the mid level system.

Whats is rare about the second one, if its the interior then its rare for a reason, in thats because it doesnt go with the exterior. Champange yes, sepang no.

As long as the Indi used is an ///M specialist i would not worry. I would argue that they probably take more care and do a better job than a Main Stealer.

What colour is sepang, can't really mAke it out from the pictures. I thought it looked quite nice.

Response from the grey car ad when asked about condition

"Hello,
The car is immaculate all over apart from one wheel that has been scuffed.
I bought the car from BMW main dealer and has been very well looked after."

I have now asked about any work been varied out, braked, receipts etc.

I also asked for dates, miles and name of the BMW dealers that did the service.

Hi Dave,

After my search when I was looking, my first bit of advice is patience. I was getting to the stage at six months that I was never going to find the car for me and was starting to look at what else my money would get me - I didn't even look at that coupe thing BMW made at the same time

I had a list of three colour combos I wanted putting them in order of preference then the minimum spec I wanted and what would be desirable to me. I would advise to not change from this as the right car is out there it just takes time. In the end the car that I bought had even more spec than I could have dreamed of.

Of the two cars you posted I would be more interested in the black/sepang. Having a coloured interior really lifts it and makes it feel more modern. Sepang is like a sand colour not as bright as champagne. Its really nice. Looking at the pictures I would say it doesn't have cruise as there doesn't appear to have the third stalk. Bluetooth doesn't automatically come with the Nav its ticked with the phone prep.

MOT - I can only say that people are idiots when it comes to selling cars - all rational thought goes out of the window. From poorly written ads, badly taken photos to not wanting to spend the £60 that would get them the sale.

Good luck there is a car out there for you

I don't think the Bluetooth or the DSP are rubbish. I find them very useful.

Agreed have both and they are great. Jesusphone connects perfectly and never had a problem with reception. DSP carver with a few tweaks (settings from here and played with) is very good and on a roadster a must have IMO.

Just spoke to the guy with the grey m, describes the car as excellent condition and confirmed all servicing done by a BMW main dealer. mmmmmmmm

I would go and view both cars with an objective approach, literally have a list of things that you want to look at and go through throughly.
Ideally get it up on a ramp.

I wouldn't compromise on colour combinations or options the right car or as close to the right car will eventually come up.

I would also add that some of the seemingly cheaper cars are cheaper for a reason i.e. Tyres, brakes or an Inspection service are due or any combination of the above. Comparing cars based on purchase price and buying a car thats slightly cheaper will not necessarily keep the cost of ownership down.

Sepang with black is a nice colour combination in my opinion and whilst i like the grey i dont like black leather in a sports car :)

I think I'm going to wait, nothing up for sale as got me really fired up. I really want to keep the zed for a long time so I need to fall in love it.

If I can it will be toy looked after kept in my garage.

Maybe winter will see more roadsters coming onto the market, saying that look at our "summer" :(

If in the mean time I spot anything I will update you guys.

Ps I'm still going to be around on here, don't get rid of me that easy! :p
