Thoughts and help please on this roof guys and gals...

Evening all, was supposed to be buying this motor but it’s 4 hours from me and the photos show the roof as pictured when it’s open, is it common or any easy fix? Or should I stay clear?

Avoid. Four hours is a trek in itself. There are other cars out there without the headache built in.
This could be a big can of worms.

It’s cheap as want a project I know someone for the body work and mechanicals but don’t have a clue about the roof
 
How can they sell a car with not only a wonky roof, but missing third brake light and only one working headlight too...
 
There’s a long list to make you not even think about going to even look at that never mind buy it.

There’s plenty out there :thumbsup:

Having looked at the photos in your link it seems the adjustable parcel shelf is not fully down on the left hand side. There are two dials either side and you adjust the height of the shelf to create more boot space when the roof is in the up position. Normally if the shelf is in the up position the roof will not even function until the shelf is in it's lowest position. Could have something to do with the roof not sitting flat on the left hand side. Worth asking the vendor to investigate this just in case then you won't have a wasted 4 hour journey. Descent looking Zed for the price :thumbsup:

Agreed about the headlight but the third brake light is not missing. It just looks to be tinted for some reason :?
 
They're all fixable bargaining points afaiac.
You say you're looking for a project so offer him 1500 and see where it goes. Everyone else will prob walk away but I say pursue it and if the garage are amenable to a big discount on their asking price then go and have a butchers'....!
It's prob been a part-ex that they want to get shut of anyway.

For that age and mileage, it’s not even remotely cheap. You could spend a lot of time and money smartening it up and still not get back the asking price.
 
Where's the photos of the interior? Why does the aftermarket air filter vanish halfway through the photoshoot?
For that age it's not especially cheap. And then when you factor in the noticeable issues, never mind the usual suspects you can't see in the photos...

Some other areas to inspect... Front edge of the right fender does not align properly with the headlight and front bumber, suggests repaired front end damage. Many of dents on both doors and left fender. Quite a lot of corrosion in the engine bay. Rivets missing from radiator cover after some repair work.

Agreed. £27.50 looks about right for that. :) Seriously, though I think you will struggle to find a worse one from the info provided. 152,000 miles is a lot for a car that has been looked after properly; that obviously hasn't.
