This isn't right - Note: large images

Hi,
I picked my car up from a BMW main dealer having had the roof motor replaced and noticed that something wasn't quite right.
I know it wasn't like that when I dropped it off but just do me a favour and reassure me that this isn't normal would you.

I know I've spoken to a number of you by PM so can I ask you to kindly keep the dealer's name confidential until they have had a chance to rectify this.

Thanks

That's not right all all - looks like they have totally screwed up the seal around the roof to the body work. I'll post an image of how mine looks if that helps.

I know this sounds pretty anal but I always photograph the car before it goes into a garage, I've read too many stories where the garage has curbed the wheels or dinked it and then said 'prove it!'

Hi, If you could post one or two I'd appreciate it, this is the same on both sides. Funnily enough I did think of taking photos, guess that's what I'll be doing from now on.

Cheers
Dave

Mine isnt 100% flush from the dealer, but no where nearly as bad as that.

The paint is flat under mine.

Thats a terrible job! i did my roof myself and managed to get that seal back on as if it hadn't been touched, looks like they have put some sort of sealant on to stick it to the body from those pics! poor show from the dealer :o

As everyone else has said...that's not right, very little attention to detail from them.

I think it will be an easy fix though, but they should have done it when they had it...disgracefull work !

Just a quick one - dod you notice this when you picked it up and point it out to them or when you got home....... Hate to say it but many people just do a quick pick up and then query obvious problems well after the event which inevitable causes a liability issue.

I hope this gets sorted as it's a bad piece or work.

One side of mine is a little like this - I think they use the sealant to try and help prevent water ingress, but if it is not dry when they put the roof up then it pulls away from the body. Anyway, my Indy is simply going to sort it for me...

Bloody hell, I'd be raging at that. That is not right.
I don't own an 'older' model but I know that's a bodge job.

To be fair the detail picture does make it look worse than in real life and I think you're probably right, it looks as it it hadn't cured properly before it was put under tension. I suspect they used too much material as it's pushed it's way from under the rubber seal.

Thanks
Dave

Looking at your avatar you're not that far from me, which Indy do you use? I'd be interested in hearing what they do to yours.

Cheers
