To be fair it wasn't too bad as it was the most powerful 4 cylinder turbo-diesel around at the time, and I've a bit of a soft spot for it as it's the only car I've ever bought while it had the current plate!

But you're right I loved my first Coupe much more.

The coupes are such great little cars. Never had a BMW before the z4 but I’m a convert now.

I traded in my 2007 R56 Mini Cooper S when I purchased my E86 back in 2013. I have an F56 JCW now, which I arrived at via an E46 325ti, E82 123d, and an F21 M135i.

Some similarities to me then as Mrs Tidy got her R56 Cooper just before Christmas 2006.

Then after swapping my 123d for an E86 I got an E46 325ti as a daily that got replaced by an E91 325i, then my current E90 330i and in 2019 my E86 became an MC!

My only experience with bmw minis is from working on customer’s cars, I’ve never driven one past a road test.
They are absolute bastards to work on.

[ref]Mr Tidy[/ref], I really liked the 325ti but I got a bad one and things kept breaking, which ruined the ownership experience. My 123d was a nice place to be, but the driving experience left me a bit cold and I didn't enjoy having a diesel. A 123d is extremely quick in a limited and specific way (overtaking people in a narrow part of the rev range), but otherwise unrewarding.

Swapped one coupe for another (heavy equipment included for scale!). The 8.0s 0-60 time belied it’s real world performance. I racked up 80,000 miles in it and it was an absolute hoot to drive.

That was one of my short list cars when I was shopping for the coupe,along with nissan 350z.

They look like really fun cars.

I had a couple of modern sports car and a lot of classic ones.
The modern ones:

Fiero was 88 GT with a turbo 300 bhp engine. Solstice is one of 200 odd manual trans GXP coupes massaged by me to 375 bhp. Latter is quicker than a Z4m, the Fiero, probably about a draw. Still own the Solstice.

Hard to believe that I am actually a British car nut. Those are the only two American sports cars I have ever owned (or wanted). Now own 1 German, 1 American and 4 British (3 MGs and 1 Jensen)

Just watched "The Fast and The Fuious - Tokyo Drift" earlier on this evening. A Nissan Silvia was one of the main car stars in it. Seriously cool.

My old E92 M3 that I swapped from in August. I miss the noise at the top end which was pure NASCAR and the steering feel but everything else in the Z4C feels more eventful. Exactly what I want when I'm out once a week on my own in it. :driving:

I’d have an E92 if I could afford one tbh. I’ve always had v8s, not having one is the worst part about the z4.
