This is going to shock you ! Now Zedless

Any sympathetic ears out there? My Zed days have come to an early end.

Sitting here depressed and carless having bought my Zed from what I thought was the most trusted source a BMW Dealership at the end of November, 8 x weeks later I have returned the car and got my money back.
It is a long and tortuous story which frankly I'm too frazzled to go into. The car has been back to the dealers three times and with the threat of a fourth and being lied to twice, I had one last sleepless night then phoned them to stop any further work and to refund my money.

Unfortnately this has put me off Zeds and I'm going to go back to the Japanese side of the tracks which has never let me down.

I have bought many new accessories which I no longer need starting with the half outdoor BMW OEM cover which I've only had eight weeks and was bought from Sopers for £84.59 . Any decent offers will be accepted and I will probably put up a seperate post with a pic if anyone needs it.

Boo hoo :(

Sorry for you mate - we've had a couple and they've been largely great fun - shame you got a lemon, and you didn't get to get the roof down on a mid summers forum hoon

Sorry to hear that Nigel, good luck and hope you have have some better luck next time.

Sorry to hear this, my Z4 was purchased from a dealers 3-4 mths ago and its returning for the second time soon, this time for a roof motor amongst other things. I recently owned a civic type-R for 3 years, totally amazing reliability, so understand your reasoning.
Good luck with your next purchase

Sorry to hear that the zed didn't work out. I've had no probs with mine.

Stay in touch

Feel for you-ours needed over £1000 of work doing shortly after we got it-bit of a wrangle tbh to get it done from the dealing franchaise, but in the end glad it didnt put me off-good luck with your new purchase

Hi, thats a sad story. However; you cannot generalise when it comes to one car, one dealer!
BMW make very reliable cars I have owned many, and none have let me down. Just the usual wear and tear, like with any car!

I had a Z3 years ago. Bomb proof engines, electrics etc... The Z4 has just followed on; just betterd itself from the Z3!

I know many friends, family that drive Japanese cars, and it`s not all plain sailing! Parts are megga expensive, much more than the German counter parts. And things go wrong, they go badly wrong.

And in (my opninion) there isn`t a Japansese car that quite does it, most are soul-less, screamng revvy engines... The S2000 was awful, no torque, tested, and turned away.

Sorry, but I really think you should open your arms up, to a decent Z4. the new Z4 towers above everything in the charts. BMW make the best engines, the 6cyl is still sublime.

Don`t leave the pack, just turn another corner :)

Don't go for an S2000 :(

No torque. Hooligan machine. Having driven both, the zed is better.

Sounds like you were sold a dud. Please don't let this put you off. The right zed is out there for you...

that sucks  sorry that you have a bad experience, I don't be put off the Z's in general because of 1 bad experience (although costly one both financially and emotionally)

I am waiting till we get a 'newbie' on this forum who has unknowingly bought Nigel's rogue Z! :(

Think we should start a thread to name problematic cars for potential newbies? Name and shame dodgy dealers too?
