This car just keeps growing on me :-)

Well it's been about 6 months (I think) since I traded the Boxster S for the 3.0 Coupe - I'd had two previous BMW's (a 518 (gutless) & a 730i (fantastic cruiser). I must admit that in my mind, I always thought that 'going back' to a BMW from a Porsche would be a step backwards. Anyway, the styling of the Z4 Coupe eventually won me over, I think the car is stunning (& always have), I eventually took the plunge.

What I found straight away was that the Z4 wasn't as good (doesn't feel as planted) in the twisties as the Boxster, which is no surprise, the Boxster chassis is widely regarded as being very good. But the raw speed of the 3ltr straight six BMW was amazing.

I've finally had the chance to do a couple of decent length road trips now & my god, the car was faultless & SO MUCH fun, I've just been grinning the entire time. Up along the coast from Torbay to my mum & dad's near Bournemouth, then up to Goodwood (with my road bike in the boot all the time) to ride a route around Goodwood, blasting back down the coast & then straight up to Spencers Wood (where I stayed with a friend who hadn't seen my 'rare' coupe before - he was fairly nonplussed as I discovered a grey E86 Coupe parked up almost exactly opposite his house). Finally an epic blast back down the A303 to Devon, I LOVE this road & doing it in the Coupe was amazing fun :-)

A few pics from my time with the Coupe:

On bike duties, no problem at all getting the bike in:

Looks great i was thinking of a boster s but i love the bmw coupe love how raw it is :] :D

Boot is huge as well fair play bike fit it with front wheel off is it ?

You have to take both wheels off to fit the bikes in, I ride 16" frames (so quite small) & they fit perfectly without having to take the bike's seat off.

This is how it went in the Porsche:

This is how it fits in the BMW:
