Thinking of removing windbreaker-

There may be something to the worry of the buckle abrading the headliner. My car has a worn strip right where I imagine a buckle might be placed. (but one side only) There currently is nothing to cause this to occur. I bought the car used, so I've no idea how it may have really happened.

You just know that being Andy something akin to 'Final Destination' is going to occur with all those bits of strap and buckles swinging around the headrest while you're trying to drive; I can see it now on 'Police, Lights, Action...and here we have a Z4 owner with a bit of a problem with their wind.... :roll:
 
Surely you get a template of some sort for drilling, either that or rely on the supports being long enough to cover up all the *cough* mistakes.... :)

I rang the stealer,they said no instructions were ever supplied/printed :headbang:

Fair point on the clip in version being better, but IIRC Andy wanted to avoid taking the roll hoops off, drilling them, and potentially not getting it right.

That's complete bollocks. And laziness. There is no way BMW would supply an accessory that could cause harm / injury, e.g. by flying off into the windscreen of a car behind, or into a pedestrian, or some other random occurrence, without instructions that included a watertight legal disclaimer...

*stomps off to hunt angrily on google*
 
Wow Columbo Bing to the rescue!-cheers mate-as i suspected looking at the drawing the seat belt travels over the buckle (as its dotted)-thus rubbing on it!
