Thinking of coming back to the fold

Hello all, after a fairly long break (zmr sold in 2011) I'm toying of getting a z4mc. I can't help but think these cars are the last of something special from BMW. My alternative is either a m135i or the 2 series equivalent. I know both those cars are way more modern and easier to live with BUT there's something about the proper M car :)

Anyone else done this? What else would you consider? Cheers all! Tim

I had come very close to trading mine in for a C63AMG last month however I decided the best move is to do nothing and keep the Z4MC.... It's just so much fun to drive..

Welcome back Tim. Has it been that long :o

I remember at the London meet where you whacked one of your CSL's before we even started

Yes ... that was before we did the first standing mile in about 25 minutes flat :D

That one stands out as decent value at the moment.

There is something special about these cars. Even though I have plans to own different cars, I always want a Z4M in my garage. Expensive hobby but worth it.

Thanks guys, good to see some old faces are still here and thanks for the reminder about my wheel...never buy csls they cost a fortune and ruin the fun! I've got my eye on the birds car as its close and looks good, just hoping it will be there in Jan as I'm not going to have a chance to see it before. I am sorely tempted by the M2 but think my wife would probably kill me. She loves the zed from last time and I love the fact the kids cannot go in the back of it...

So...I went and bought a forum car from Rattler, aka RubyMC's old car. Picked it up today and tried my hardest to get through half a tank of vpower as quickly as possible. Felt brilliant to be back in a zed, especially a coupe for the first time. Compared to my golf R these things are an absolute handful on wet roads but that's all part of the fun! It seems to be purring nicely now after the old Italian tune-up and I guess I'll have to update my sig!

Congrats, it's a lovely car.

You decided to go with the 224's rather than the CSL's.

Yes, ive been there before with the CSL wheels and I honestly think they ruin the ride and handling so I had no interest in going there again! For me assuming no other jobs crop up I'll be changing the 224s or going all black either way stock tyre size is key :)

So far I've had the oil and brake fluids changed by TWG and a stubby is the first purchase, then I need to figure out if I can repair the front calipers (nipples broken - oooer) or replace/refurb. Pulled a few random codes but I think these must have been from the battery change that Rattler did as I cleared them and everything is well after a good hard drive. I guess I should start a thread on the car and move over to that one!

Excellent, you don't have to worry about the handbrake as that will be as new judging by how Ruby used it (or not)

Good to see you back mate.....are you still living in Richmond?
Cheers, yes I'm still in the borough, just moved slightly out so I'm in Teddington now (better for the kids!). I'm looking to refurb the wheels at some point so any pointers on a local place will be appreciated! Hopefully there are a few other west London ZMs around still.

Good to hear someone coming back to these, says a lot imo.
I get all my rims done by a guy called dips who's over in hayes so not far from you. Very highly regarded on the m3 forum. 0seven958 432167
