As a lot of you will know my Z was smashed up last week and found out a couple of days ago its been written off..
Been looking at what's available whilst I wait for the insurance valuation and the possible negotiations that ensue and whilst my fist thought was to get another Z and still probably my top choice I'm also considering going for something completely different so here's the shortlist so far:
Z4 - probably a 3.0 SI but also considering finance on an Alpina or even an ///M
Audi TT - Don't expect this to go down too well here but the prices of the 3.2 V6 are currently below equivalent SI prices and I would get 4 wheel drive, DSG and a nicer interior
E46 3 Series Convertible - Either an ///M or an Alpina again there are options for both coming in at SI money so I could get a car that's a bit special without finance.
E92 3 Series coupe - Seen a couple of 335I models around SI money and its stupidly quick (especially with a remap) but it isn't a convertible and I am a little bit worried about the reliability of the twin turbo engine setup.
E93 Convertible - Thing that puts me off on these is you are looking around £2k more than the coupe just to put the roof down, there are issues reported with wind noise with the roof up, and would probably be looking at a 330 if I wanted to do it without finance. Also a little bit worried that the complicated roof mechanism, would break and would be ridiculous cost to fix. On the plus side they do look really nice and watching the piece of engineering that it that massive metal roof folding up would be enough to keep me happy for months without even driving it
Scirocco 2.0T FSI - They look awesome they are quick as standard and would be getting remapped so even quicker but - not a vert and also front wheel drive
Jag XF 3.0D V6 - Complete curve ball here as not a sports car, convertible or even a coupe, but I have had a jag before and they are really comfortable and just generally nice places to be, they also drive and handle very nice. Its another twin turbo but not worried about reliability as plenty of them around the 200k miles mark and I would be looking at much lower mileage examples. It does have coupe-esque looks but the thing drawing me to it is POWER.. once remapped it will have over 300BHP but the really cool figure is almost 700nm of torque...
Anyway talk me back to my senses or send me right off on another tangent. Was gonna do a poll but know you guys will just vote for the Z so thought I'd just await any abuse that comes in the comments
