Basically;

Im thinking the either the 23i or 30i - Advice on either of these would be nice.

Is there any MUSTS from the car and also things to avoid!

Is the "M Sport" worth the extra money?

Engine wise go for what you can afford to run but obviously the 3.0 will give you more power etc. As Stark, M Sport for me. If you are buying pre owned then usual checks before purchase to ensure you get a good deal - even if its from a dealer.

M sport well worth the extra, if you budget can stretch to it. The 3.0i will be quicker, so if that's your thing, it''ll be worth the extra £££

Stay away from 296 wheels, too much trouble with them cracking, but then again you hardly ever see M Sports with 296 wheels. But if non M sport, 296 wheels should be avoided.

A lot of Z's get purchased with the 5 year servicing package, so check if it has tha, always worth the benefit.

If it was a choice of a 30i over a 23i with the msport package for me, i would go for the bigger engine everytime :P

Sorry, just realised this should probably be in the E89 forum section, and not the E85/6.

The joys of 3:30am.

Many thanks for the input so far

Musts are : Parking sensors, heated seats and a wind deflector. Now for the controversial part,i love the M sport front spoiler but dont like the rear diffuser, steering wheel or gear knob :exitright:

Yepp M Sport all the way, just looks a bit more aggressive and the seats alone are worth it. Out of interest I wouldn't mind driving a non M Sport model to see how the ride differs. What Car say to avoid the M Sport as the ride ruins the car and doesn't add anything handling wise :?

Tim.

Best advice is to test drive a few and see what suits.

I swapped an E85 3.0si for a E89 23i and find the power more than sufficient.

M-Sport or standard is purely personal preference looks wise, although the harder suspension of M-Sport models can be an aquired taste.

As above, 19" rims in all styles look good but are prone to cracking and the cost of tyres is high. Check all the gadgets, and especially the roof, work as they should.

5 year service pack is well worth having, as are wind deflector, heated seats and leather. There are loads of interior colour and material combinations too which look great/awful depending on your taste.

At the end of the day unlike some cars there aren't really any duffers in the E89 range.

M Sport suspension on an E89 is pretty soft anyway. Not as firm or sporty as E85/86. - It won't be an issue for you

Ensure that you get a car with I-drive and Nav though. It's so integral to the car and provides loads of function etc. On a used car it's def. worth seeking the right car.

Re the E89 wind deflector, I have to disagee with the posts above. The E89 is pretty refined with the roof down even at very high speeds. You don't need one.

Good luck! :driving:

Are the M sport seats different to "sports seats?" My 3.0 is standard but has optional "sports seats" which was on my "must have" list. The ride is fantastic. Now I look closely I still think that the bumper, rear and steering wheel are all neater than those on the M sport ...

Im surprised by how many do NOT have the iDrive considering how much Zed Five has put on it. Is this the consensus of the group, or is it less of a deal breaker than it seems.

What exactly does the iDrive do (apart from the sat-nav) unfortunately its something i havent come across before so know little about.

The iDrive / M Sport combo is a little beyond my budget i think, depending on what finance packages i get offered.
