Thinking about selling....and going for a supercar.

As per point 3, they do often say that when normal people find out about good investments it's actually a bit late...

It's not easy to make such big net gains unless very lucky or also having had huge losses in the past. Unless this is a rare lottery esque winning investment...

Nice work either way to the OP! With that kinda cash I'd do something supercar related if cars were a passion, Ecurie 25 for a few years?!

I think there are at least 3 of us on this board that could afford a supercar but we also have everything else in place to, just to add you should also have a minimum of £100k on deposit. :)

Ive read, and re-read this post... It justs get worse!

Im sure your not but you come over as a right cock saying that. Who gives a flying F**K who could buy what. On a daily basis i have to listen to someone telling me how high they can p*ss in wealth terms like they have to impress me.... im doing well but never ever felt the need to wave my fella about.

Hello, having re read my post it did not convey the message I was trying to give to the OP and could have been taken the wrong way and for that I apologize  :)

Hi Mate,

No worrys, Its hard to always put a point across on a post, half my post i re-read either make no sense or not how i ment them.

Im glad a Mod didnt feel the need to get involved, and sorry for the cock sentense.

Cyber Hug....

Cheers

" it seems a bit reckless to advise other readers on here to invest in a stock now which has already taken its gains. And like any stock, it has just has much chance now as before of going down in price rather than up. We wouldn't want somebody losing their life savings and getting into difficulties based on this sort of advice would we !?..

1) Anyone stupid enough to risk their life savings on the advice of an internet car forum probably shouldn't have access to their own bank account.
2) The price sky rocketed from them announcing they have found some oil, and it might be worth drilling, so as far as I can tell it's either going to go one of two ways:

a) the oil turns out to be good, and they drill - surely this will see the stock rise?
b) the oil turns out to be useless, and they go on searching, or the company collapses - the stock will crash.

As far as I can see, it's a gamble !

Yup, a big gamble.

Low risk, low return.

High risk, high return.

The nature of the market means that if anything is a good bet, then they soon go up in value and if this stock was one of those then we have missed the boat lets put it that way :D

I wish I'd bought Barclays at 80p a share but they could have so easily halved again! Easy to look back now and think I was wrong not to buy some because they are now higher hehe.

I got out of Barclays at a considerable loss a few months back. Bought in way to high (£3!). Anyone who bought in at 80p is quids in...

For those interested, I have decided to keep the Z4 and i wont be buying another car. I think when i posted this i was caught up in the euphoria of the moment and to be fair i was confused about what to do with the money.

Over £2.60 a share today... you could probably afford a supercar even after taking 1/2 your cash out earlier :P

That's up over 50p in the last two weeks.

I guess they will be releasing the information on the size/quality of the discovery next week - so it's crunch time :)

As an ex F355 convertible owner....BEWARE!
There is a culture of "if I can't have one then I am going to damage yours" mentality around. I used to come back to fingerprints all over the car, people peering in to see if I was a football player and the last straw, a stay over at a decent London hotel where they even put meatl barriers around the car. Came out the next morning to find a deeply scratched rear wing. As someone who works up to seven days a week to provide for my family I decided that it wasn't worth all the hassle. Whilst a Z4 may not be as exotic at least I can leave it on the street unmolested.
NB: We took it down to Le Touque, France with the hood down, got thumbs up all the way and left it with the hood down all day/night at the hotel without a finger mark on it.
The above is in no way meant to detract from your wish to buy a supercar just to warn of the pitfalls, all the best, regards,
Mike

You get this with a Z4 as well I've noticed! Have come back to my car with grubby paw marks on the glass. There's been threads on here as well to say that the green eyed monster will happily scratch a Z4 as well.

Sadly they exist and are happy to attack anything they don't own - although probably far more likely to attack a Ferarri. Have heard similar from a bloke on PH who has an Elise, but used to have a Diablo. He said he gets far more enjoyment out the Lotus than he ever did from the Lambo, because people were less offensive to him whilst and he'd gotten sick of getting random uncalled for abuse at petrol stations/car parks etc.

Almost £4 today bean. Did you stay in ? I sold at £2.91 ... Still made a profit... but there are going to be some seriously happy people this weekend !

I'd sell half your shares and have some fun, then at least you've crystallised some of your profit, then your less exposed to loses and still stand to gain if your investment rises futher

Don’t get to greedy and enjoy your gains.

I’d be looking at a baby Lambo (£65k) and a couple of jumps up the property ladder myself, perhaps a decent holiday home in Portugal or Ibiza to play safe too.

Don't forget to short sell when the s**t hits the fan :D

Only one car on my wishlist - Maser GTS. Amazing looks, amazing sound and amazingly good cruiser with a sports kick too. Best get back to work then!

by Beancounter1980 - 17 Nov 2009, 17:53

I honestly would drive anything if I had some form of transport while the car is in.

I was once given a pink convertible micra when I had to have work done a previous car.

Eitherway, ill head down with insurance docs and hopefuly they will waive the 15 quid.

I got a wedding to pay for next Jan!

Believe me when I say I will be literally living of crackers and water for the next two months!

Each to their own...

I could never justify spending £1500 on a set of genuine alloys. I would rather spend that money on food/clothes.

MS Remap @ £495+vat = 255Bhp upgrade on a 2003 3.0i.....
by Beancounter1980 - 21 Oct 2009, 16:17

Including rolling road they want £495+VAT, plus i was told it was completely undetectable..

Anyway i still think that is a "good gain" on a NA engine. But i cant really justify the cost..
