Thinking about a Z4

Hi all

I have a 2009 boxster 2.9 and am just starting to think about changing car , before the boxster I had a Elise and before that an s2000. I have a couple of questions if any one can help me.

What's the z4 like compared to boxster / elise - I was thinking about the 28i M is it worth the money over the 20i M , is the M option worthwhile

I love gadgets and the z4 seems to come with loads, what are the must have options, does anybody use the iPhone apps or are they just a gimmick, does the music system / Bluetooth work well with iPhone.

I play golf ( well attempt to) , is it fairly easy to get clubs and trolly in the boot ?

We just had a quick discussion about getting a spare.
Sadly the Mrs thinks it is unnecessarily indulgent :(

If work picks up though I may just get one.
(I bet if work picks up they will put the price up)

I can't help you on the Boxter comparison, I have religiously avoided Porsche garages in deference to my wallet.
 
Firstly, welcome.

Secondly why do you want to change from the Boxster? Afterall yours will have a great six cylinder soundtrack and musters 250bhp ish, whereas your first suggestion of a Z4 20iM will give you a less sonorous four cyclinder soundtrack and only 184bhp. Unless you are desperate for the security of a folding hard top, that's going to feel like a step backwards.

So at the very least a 28i M (245bhp) should be a must, unless you are happy with a reduction in performance. If I were coming from a 250bhp, I'd be looking at the 35i as a minimum.

The reason I am thinking of swapping is that I have had the boxster for 18 months and will have to extend the warranty in a couple of months time (at least 1k but wouldn't want a boxster without one) + I like driving different cars , I very rarely keep one for more than 18 month. I have toyed with getting another boxster but fancy something different , have thought about a Z4 a few times and like the idea of all of the toys.

Would hate to buy a z4 and then regret selling the boxster though

Are you wedded to the idea of a brand new car, or would you consider used ? If you have £9k to put down on a car then I'd seriously consider a Z4M as there appear to be some great deals around on well looked after low mileage examples. I almost wish I'd bought one instead of my 3.0 Si, but I drive a lot of miles and the auto suits me... For now :evil:
