Right, just to update:

Went for a test drive today of a coupe. First thing that stuck me was that the driving position was a little offset, not massivley but I certainly noticed it.

Second thing I noticed was that it was awesome. A deal was put on the table but we're still about £750 away from where I want to be. We'll see what happens over the next week.

One quick question if I may - what is the range of the coupe? I meant to ask the salesman but was so bewitched by the car ;)

Thanks for all the advice and help so far folks :)

-Mark.

Hey Mark I looked at that Z I'm pretty sure it's had a few owners that may or may not put you off just thought I'd let you know.

When I drove the coupe I felt the Same regarding the seating position, I'm pretty sure you would get used to it.

My range on th trip computer has shown details up to around 500 miles. I doubt I'd actually get that in reality but I have done 420 miles in a trip.

Adam, I had a look at the V5 and it's a two owner car. Not really an issue for me and it is 5 years old so again, not a major concern. Thanks for the heads up though, much appreciated :)

Jonny, thanks for the info. They have offered 2 free mot's, the 1 year warranty(as it's official BMW approved car), it has 4 brand new tyres and the discs and pads have all been replaced. They'll obv do the 140 point check as well.

Just down to money now, I need another £500 to £750 off the price to do a deal but I'm in no rush, might be worth leaving it until nearer Xmas and having a look at what's available then.

Thanks all :)

Bestmof luck Marl. You're playing the long game and in a buyers market thats the way to play. Am sure you either get that call or find something perfect by Xmas. Welcome to the forum

Bluestreak, imagine a silver grey coupe with 108 wheels, black leather and piano black trim and you'll have the picture in your mind ;)

Hope you don't mind markr :) Looks a good spec and low mileage for the age!

had another phone call from bmw dealer today says they will now take £17K price last sunday was £18750 in playing the long game gonna ask them for 12 months tax now then i will buy i might be really tempted . . stick with it ask for more discount you will get it they have huge profits in them

Bit of a massive gap between posts for me!

The car hunt took a bit of a back seat over the winter but I'm still on the trail, still after a Z4 but trying to get the best compromise between price and spec, plus, there's not many about!

Cheers :)

Right, test drove another today from BMW Stirling. It hadn't been through the 140 check but it had mixed tyres on the rear axle!

The inside of the 108 alloys were in a bad state but I loved the colour, montego blue I think.

On the drive it pulled a little to the right, salesman suggested it could be a simple psi issue or the tracking may be out (which I assume the 140 check would pick up)

Otherer than that I loved it, downsides were that it has no nav or cruise control. A little torn to say the least, trading the current car would also make life easier.....

Might throw in a low ball offer and see what comes off it!

Cheers all :)
