Thinking about a Z4 Coupe

Hello all,

My names Mark and I currently live in both Dundee and Birmingham (Dundee at weekends, Birmingham during the week). I had been thinking about changing my car for a while but couldn't find anything I really wanted so put the matter to bed.

Then last week my friend emailed me to ask my thoughts on a Z4 coupe. After some discussion he decided he'd rather buy a Porsche but he planted the seed in my mind and now I can't shake it!

So far I've not even sat in a Z4 coupe let alone driven one but I'll hopefully remedy that next weekend. Anyway, I'll let you all get back to it and make a cup of tea and take in as much off the info on the forum as I can.

Cheers,

-Mark.

Hi Mark - welcome ! I hope the tea was good :)

Once you've had a shot in a coupe, sort yourself out a ride in a roadster too ... If you're still set on a tin-top afterwards the at least you'll at have the memories

Certainly was. I'm back up in Dundee this weekend so heading along to Kirkcaldy to have a look at the coupe they have there. Looking forward to it :)

Sounds like me a few months ago, currently in the process of selling my other two cars to buy a z4c, depending on how picky you are (if you're like me god help us!) it may take a while to find the right car but hopefully not!

Let us know what you're looking for I'll keep an eye out.

Best of luck!

I grew up in Dalgety Bay - there are some cracking roads in Fife with none of the stupid hedgerows they grow down here to kill sports car drivers... Planning a trip back home in spring solely to play on roads I love. Make sure you go for a test drive :D

:D

Great idea - I'm looking forward to it already :driving:

EDIT - @ Adamski. Done hijacking :D

I'm clearly a stalker!! :D (Just Kidding!!!) If you want a look at my car I have a great picture in this months photo competition.

Thanks all, the roads in Fife are amoungst the best, I used to love wheeling the elise or VX220 out on a sunday moring and spend half the day driving to nowhere in particular. Not quite the same down here in Birmingham though, esp. living in the city center!

I phoned up today so have a test drive booked at Kirckaldy BMW, not that I'm a time waster but I'd rather slightly inconvience a dealer than mess a genuine seller around. Hopefully that test drive will resolve the issue for me and I can begin the search in earnest (although knowing me i'll probably just do a deal there and then!) It seems nice, the only thing it's missing is the sat nav (I heard they are important for re-sale, do you guys agree?) it even has the piano black trim......

Jonny, good to hear from you again, if I get serious I'll certainly give you a bell to come and take a look see at yours - it sounds like you have done a lot of work to it.

Again, thanks for the welcome guys, from all the research I have been doing and drooling online it'll have to drive like a dog to put me off - which reading all the road test I seriously doubt it will!

Welcome to the forum!

You'll love the Z4. If Pheonix have both coupe & roadster in, see if you can get a drive in both! You'll not regret either. The coupe is remarkably practical for the type of car, and is surprisingly light on fuel unless you're thrashing it from every junction or bend. The 6 pot has an incredibly smooth torque curve and feels really nice when you bury you're foot in any gear, any speed.
There's some buyers guides on the site, might help if you're going for a test drive and want to know if there's anything to look out for.

Look forward to hearing you say you've bought one and we'll see you on the next Scottish day out! :D

If you a buying it from a main dealer remember they will have a big profit in it so offer them £1000 Off the sprice if they dont accept it leave your number and walk away i guarantee you they will ring you . .its a buyers market and these cars are just not selling .+.

Cheers Vinny,

It is over priced imo but it'll be useful to get a drive in one, I'll let you know my thoughts after the drive :)

You should definitely test drive a roadster too, it's a great driving experience

A hardtop will provide the roof you need during winter months...... :)

X2. Best of both worlds (plus the shape with a hardtop is damn fine).
