Think this would clean up ok ?

Good morning all

Seen a nice 3.0si for sale though the drivers bolster looks pretty worn and discoloured

Before I make a long journey to see it can I get some views on how this seat may get restored and what end finish I can expect please?

I’ve seen some posts saying go to the furniture clinic for product.
Anyone got some before and after pics to help give me confidence this works?

That should clean up / be easy enough to restore.

Many leather products on the market these days that work wanders.

Doesn’t look as if the stitching has gone or leather is ripped so perfectly DIYable for a small amount of cash and effort.

It probably will clean up nice enough, I have the same seats (Silverstone and anthracite) and some leather cleaner did them a lot of good

That looks as if the 'connolising' (dye) has worn away to me. It won't clean off unfortunately. It will need refinishing either professionally or with a D.I.Y kit.

If your looking at roadsters and that's not a heated seat then don't worry - you'll be swapping it out in no time! Hope you're enjoying the search you'll find one that's just right for you I'm sure

Looks like this to me too. Still not a big job, but might need some TLC from a furniture restorer.

Was going to suggest that if you get it then try some of the Gliptone products.

As they're closing down on at the end of August I'll not bother!

Thanks for everyones comments on this one.
The car in question looks really good on may levels, though I have my doubts as there are some things coming to light that I'm not happy with as i've started to dig deeper into the service history and what works and doesn't.

Been a long time since I purchased a 'pre loved' car so having this forum to bounce questions off and get some different perspective is fantastic.

I use Lederzentrum products from Colourlock. They have many BMW colours in stock, and colourmatch those not stocked. Don't skimp and expect a single product to do a good job. Get a full kit of stuff.

Check the MOT history too.

Get an RAC / AA check done for a valuation and an idea of what might need replaced.

I've got more photos the owner has sent me and it looks a lovely motor, good spec, was about to head down to view it over the next few days
There are some bodywork marks that have been disclosed, non working aircon, lowered suspension and the seat bolster wear.
The last 5 services have been done by a local garage that is not a specialist, more of a van and truck place according to google.
The service history mainly is putting me off as I think this is top money for what is now not quite the car I hoped it would be
Owner has been very accommodating to all my requests for pictures and information , bit of a bugger really as was hoping this would be the one to get.
