I have thought about opening the back, and then maybe remove the rotor and turn the commutator on a lathe. But I was unsure if I could refit the back plate in such a way that it would hold sufficiently over the years.
I can still do that as the motor in the picture is a spare (my roofmotor is just fine, I got the corroded one from someone else to play with)
