I have spoken with the seller and I am sure this is nothing other than a genuine Alpina... It's located near Brent Cross.. There is also a second car I may try and deal on.. Just editing to see what they come back with... This car is on the Alpina register

You're gonna hate me. I told another new member on here to avoid that one...here's the link

...we viewed it and drove it (BIGSCREEN viewed it,too, but couldn't get a drive!) and it's not worth more than £12k Has lots of problems and is missing its running-in service. It's gen, though, and we were offered it for £13k when it was stickered at £15k, but it needs at least £1k worth of work, and we happily walked away. I'm sure you're ok with the other one, but '06 is VERY late. Build number and VIN.....should not be a BMW VIN quoted, and VIN and build numbers coincide on Alpinas so is a good starting point. Ask for pics of build plaque and under-bonnet VIN which should begin WA, not WB. The screen-mounted VIN is the original BMW number and means nothing for the car. With a build number, plenty of questions can be asked of the car in ALPINA-circles  ...all helps ensure you get a good-'un, as these are expensive when they go wrong.

Hi All,

Back on 1 Sep 2005, I picked up my new Alpina Roadster S No 105 from BMW in High Wycombe. I sold it 2 yrs later as it was time to reclaim the money (minus a bit of depreciation...) and buy a house. I randomly searched for the Roadster on Google on Friday night to see what price they were nowadays and uber-bizarrely my beloved 105 is for sale 25 miles up the road from me. I went for a look and it had been very well looked after but now has 73K on the clock. The garage agreed to provide 2 new rear tyres and a 12 month warranty (I would check extensiveness of this obv.) for a reduced £12.9K. F-BMW-SH. Is this a good price? Is 72K something to be wary of? There's a few around with sub-50.

I'm desperately trying not to be ruled by the heart on this one but it's difficult!

Your expert thoughts would be very much appreciated!

Plowy, I wouldn't be put off by the first one on an 06 plate, I had a Datsun 240Z which was on a 1975 'N' plate, although it was manufactured in 1971,mine had been standing around for a few years!! Good luck with your search :)

hmmmm...things on hold ...M3 sale is not happening at the moment, the market is flooded with them and there is no way im gonna chuck this car away for peanuts,,,,its too good...

well.gonna have to re-visit this next year i think.., sitting tight on the M3, a great car that im not prepared to give away for peanuts...though id love another Z....... :)

I'd just add that while you have to give away the M3 fornpeanutsnyou can buy the next Zed for peanuts.
Unless you're trading down the resultant price difference is better than waiting.

If a Zed is what you want then go for it.
