Things to do in Aberdeen..

As the title suggests, looking to find out what would be good to visit in and around the area of Aberdeen. Heading up to Scotland for Easter, staying in Braemar, but wondered whether it would be worth a day trip out to the Aberdeen area.

Any ideas very welcome.

Thank you.

Couple of things worth doing - Maritime Museum , Art Gallery is not bad depending on what visiting collection they have in.

It has a new Shopping Centre built two years ago with large Cinema complex- called Union Square, the main high street Union Street is pretty impressive on a sunny day- and can be quite good smart car spotting territory.

Stonehaven which is further south and neighbouring Dunnochter Castle where hamlet was filmed is picturesque.

when we have visitors up the following seem to be favourites - Royal Lochnager Distillery ( next door to Balmoral) , Craithes Castle at Banchory , Loch Muich - on the Balmoral estate . Most of these are all just of either the North or South Deeside Road.

Are you bringing the Zed if so there are miles of great driving roads around Braemar .

Not far from Braemar you have some of the best distilleries in the country.

You might still have snow at Glenshee.

A nice run in the car from Braemar - take south Deeside road and then head up to Cairn o' Mount.

Yep coming up in the Zed. We visited Braemar last year and really like the area hence the return visit. Did Balmoral, bought some whiskey from the distillar but didnt do the tour. Thinking about doing that this time. Also considering a Highland Safari with a local company that was recommended.

Unfortunately I have promised the better half that there wont be "too" much driving, however Im sure I can cram some in somehow. :D

Thanks for the suggestions.
